Hi! Back home from London where I got cuddles, autographs and get to sit at the same table like John Barrowman, here is the first story from the con, as people have asked. Try to imagine his very own way of not just telling stories but acting them all out!

The question was: "Please tell us about your real life heroship this week".

So, on Thursday, John just came from his concert in Newcastle - some fans from Newcastle gave a shout then in the audience - and he was checking into his hotel in Glasgow. It was 2 AM in the morning. He just had brought his parents to their room and was now in his own room, together with the concierge, as the room was not cold enough for John's liking - he likes to sleep very cold (to keep the wrinkles from getting too deep *wink*)

Then they heard a scream from the room opposite of his parents. A young couple was in the hall and yelled: "Hold him!" and they saw a young boy dash down the hall. John's mother came out of her room, with night cream in her face (I should add that she also was sitting in the audience, listening to this story) and then also John's Dad came out, scratching his - um, well, John showed where he scratched. Use your imagination.

Anyway, playing Captain Jack Harkness on "Torchwood" for four years must have rubbed off somehow - he yelled to the concierge: "Call the police, and then trap him at the staircase!" - "What was I thinking" and he shook his head.

So, John dashed after the boy and at the elevator he caught up with him. The boy just had hit the concierge hard into the face - his glasses went flying - "he was blind" - and John grabbed the boy's ankles, and snatched him off his feet so he fell backwards and bumped his head on the floor. John then sat with one knee on him, held the arms and the concierge held the legs and they waited for the police.

When the police arrived John again fell into Captain Jack mode and yelled: "What took YOU so long!" With exclamation mark on the "you".

The woman that got robbed told the boy "as a mother" to just tell the truth and everything will be fine. Then she turned to John and said, how am I supposed to tell my kids that I got saved by Captain Jack Harkness?

Up until now the story was very funny but now John got serious, telling us the boy was only 14 and on drugs and did not have parents and was left behind by the others who did the robbery, to get caught. And if he likes, John would help him with rehab and also give him a job in theatre or panto, "to give him a sense of responsibility, because I believe in second chances, I believe everyone deserves a second chance".

We then just applauded as this is how we love our John, right?

Three questions later John remembered that he wore his Captain America shirt at the time. No wonder he went into Superhero mood.

Two hours later Daniele Favilli who had played "Angelo" in "Miracle Day" got asked how old he was, as fans estimated everything between 21 and 37. He was proud they thought he was 21 and then answered with a straight face: "I'm 85 - my room is very cold!" and John who sat next to him was cracking up ;) Then Daniele admitted that he actually is 38, and he was astonished when he saw the scene where Jack changes his ID with his wrist scanner (he had not seen it when shooting as it was a special effect) that they made him only 23 years old.

Everyone loved Daniele, it was his first con, he danced at all parties and loved the interaction with fans as well.

And so that everyone knows what he looked like yesterday, here is a gallery with some very nice pictures: http://www.johnbarrowman.org/gallery/2011-gallery/hub-7-25-27-november-2011/

Wow. Fun AND exciting tales besides!

As for that boy...sigh. The more things change, the more they stay the same. Using someone underage this way has been done for hundreds of years at least.

Yeah. I hope it was a lesson for him and he will indeed change.

We had read the story in the internet before John came on stage, so of course wanted to know his very own version (as you never can be sure about what the Daily Mail writes)

This and wondering whether John had to sleep in the doghouse after he made Scott sing on stage in Cardiff were two burning questions of mine - and they both got answered. More on the second one another day!

Wow, great story, thanks!
I can see John Barrowman Sr. walking out of their hotel room scratching the back of his pajama bottoms (hope I'm right assuming it was the back)
I'd love to read some follow-up on the boy. His apprentice friends just dumped him there. Maybe this whole episode will take him to some real friends. I have a friend who was in a criminal gang, got his back badly hurt, was bed-bound for 8 months but it ultimately let him turn his life around. He's a happy husband and dad of 2 now :-)

When I saw Angelo's age in the show, I was a little doubtful, because Daniele looked 28-30 to me there. But I attributed it to the Mediterranean climate :-)

Heh - it actually was the front of his pajama pants, if you get my meaning ;) John is really great at telling stories. Wait till I start with my concert post, I found lots of videos on youtube.

When I first saw pictures of Daniele as Angelo I wondered why he would be so special to Jack, as he did not seem any special to me. But when I watched the scenes I was blown away. He had so much passion in him. But yeah, the wrinkles on his eyes gave him away a bit. Then I also found these pictures on the internet:

I certainly hope that John or whoever can make a difference for this boy - you can't help them all, but you can at least try with one. Have you also heard the story how John gave the shoes off his own feet to this man living with his family on the streets in Paris?

You know, that thought (about scratching) did cross my mind but I dared not go there :-)
Daniele is very good looking. I saw a clip from The Rose Tatoo starring him, he's a great comedian, too. http://youtu.be/0lAK0P8W9WM
The story about the Romanian family was very touching. I hope they have somewhere to stay now. Sometimes I give away stuff, too, but never shoes off my feet.

And can you imagine John doing this on stage while his mother was sitting in the room? Even twice, as a few minutes later he said "Dad stopped scratching his..." and did it again LOL

Naughty John ;)

I think I might develop a bit of a crush for Daniele myself - especially after seeing him for real at the weekend. I want to follow his career and hope he will get to do lots of nice things. He told us he will do a Western next! And that an Oscar is his goal in the future ;)

He also talked a bit about Shakespeare, he seems to love the theatre.

Did you know we have a little Daniele LJ community? It is not very alive at the moment, but I plan to post a bit there about the con: http://angelistas.livejournal.com/

Oh wow, that's a great story. :D I can imagine that playing Captain Jack for so long would definitely have an effect on you! ;)

And wow, Daniele is 38? I wouldn't go do far as to say he necessarily looks 23, but... Definitely younger than 38~ *_*

I'm so glad you had such a great time. =D

I haven't really anything to answer, just wanted to show off my new icon ;)
Yeah, the Captain Jack gene is definitely there!

Did you know we do have a Daniele community?

Ha. Great story! I guess he needs to be careful when he wears his Captain America t-shirt. It's a bit dangerous. ;)

You might be right with that ;)
But even if he doesn't wear it anymore, he has lots more Superhero shirts I'm afraid...

Oh, hi!
Waited for your letter but then stopped and think a little bit and came here. Thanks for the story. I read it yesterday, but you are right - it's always interesting to know HIS version. He is so cool! I'd love to see him both in Captain America T-shirt and Captain Harkness mode. I bet those woman kids won't believe the story mother told them )))
What two hot questions did you ask?
About Daniele. I was wondering about his age right away after he showed up in Torchwood and yes, he looks better then 38. But when you see his younger pics you should admit that story would be hotter if he was actually 23 ;)
Thanks for the nice gallery!

Look at my new icon ;)

Yeah, I also read the story in the internet at the day before John came and wondered how much of it was true. I did not ask the question myself, but apparently others wanted to know also.

My other question would have been whether Scott was mad that he was dragged to the state for singing, but again someone else asked this so I did not have to.

Daniele talking English with Italian accent was so sexy! And he was really funny too, plus he was passionate about theatre and Shakespeare. He is a nice guy.

Thank you soooo much for those wonderful pictures! They are great. I didn't take any, my camera is not good for this and I was not near the stage.

Will you tell me the name of the friend so I also can thank her? Or can I not see her LJ because it is friends only?

Oh, well, I'm sorry, but it is closed blog and it's not from LJ but from diary.ru
Also I think not my friend was taking those pics, but her friend. You know, long trail of friends eventually made us all happy )
Oh! And her name is Regis if it tells you something. She also was in London not long ago and yesterday showed us her pic with Karen from DW )

Ah, okay, I know - I also have many friends all over the world ;)
No, the name Regis does not ring a bell at the moment, but maybe somewhere I will see her!

(wrong icon - sorry ;) - did you see the picture I posted?)

You're welcome! Yes he is and that's why we love him.

At the con I had won some special hour with John and 11 other people in a room, and that's where I first heard that Scott had sung again in Glasgow - so you also had a very special evening! Thank YOU for everything as well.
