At the market I found a stall with miniature glass bottles. I thought McCoy may enjoy these ;)

Knowing our Bones, he would enjoy these especially for making his favourite mint julep!.-)

I don't remember in which episode it was but I clearly see Bones pouring a drink and offering to Spock but he declined so he drank alone. That's what this is based on.

Although probably when Scotty arrives he will be happy about these too ;) I need to go back and buy more.

I love tiny glass bottles, so I'm totally geeking out here!

(I'm also really impressed by how realistically he can hold/pour from a bottle.)

Same here! And I'll bet one of the bottles is holding illegal Romulan ale. LOL

I love them too! Ever since I visited my friend and she had an old dollhouse from her mother with real porcellain and glass vases and dishes, and I only had cheap plastic.

There are many more styles and colors available, I may go back and add more. Only 4 EUR for a piece!

I just tried all hands until I found one that could grip the bottle well. How do you like my table top? That used to be a chocolate box. I couldn't throw it away with this interesting style.

Yes, indeed, very futuristic! I've never seen anything like this again. It was a gift from my grandmother once.

He looks like he could use a drink. A serious man, is he?

Serious? Hm. Not sure how to answer this. It's true he probably has a lot to worry about. He can come over as snarky or angry, but I love him for his funny lines and humanity. He's honest. He sees right through you and tells you things you hadn't realized yourself yet. I immediately liked him after the first few minutes.

It's like this: Spock is the brain. Always going for the logical resolution. McCoy is the heart. He puts the emotional, human opinion in. And Kirk in the middle listens to both opinions, and then makes his decision on how to act. Spock and McCoy tease each other a lot for what they see is a failure. McCoy cannot understand how you only can see the world logical, and Spock cannot understand how you only let your heart decide and not your brain.

But over the course of the series they become quite good friends. There are videos on youtube with all the McCoy and Spock banter scenes. Here's the first of four if you are interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GrVqmYzGTuM

He sometimes calls out Spock's green hide or pointy ears which can sound quite racist in nowaday's ears. But we don't need to feel sorry for Spock as he is able to give back. I love those moments.

Also McCoy is the only one that Jim cannot order. In fact, he can order the captain to take a break if necessary. So he also has a lot of responsibility, being the head of all medical people. He is the only one Kirk can confide in, a true friend, as he is not a subordinate. There are scenes where they meet in the evening for a drink. Where Kirk shares how sometimes it's too much, when everyone looks at him expectantly for an answer when he has none. There is also a scene where McCoy pours a drink and offers one to Spock but he declines. Wish I could find that on youtube. That's the one I was thinking of when making this picture.

On Twitter it has made quite the rounds. Over 300 likes and retweets, even from the official Star Trek Twitter!

Jugding from your description, I'd like him, too.

McCoy is the heart. He puts the emotional, human opinion in. And Kirk in the middle listens to both opinions, and then makes his decision on how to act.
I think it makes a good balance. I'm sure there's never a simple answer, but having someone to articulate both sides' perspective helps you see the whole picture. And then you just have to be Kirk.

It sounds reasonable. Also, it's a good idea for a story, him ordering Kirk to take a break when he doesn't feel he has to. The conflict, and then mutual agreement.

It's understandable. Everyone should have a McCoy to confide in :)

This is why I also loved the Jack (leader of SG-1) and Janet (doctor in the infirmary) relationship in Stargate. Equally, she is the only one having a say over him. She doesn't use it too often, only when really necessary. He always tried to fled the infirmary as soon as possible, hating being sick, seen as being vulnerable, etc. Never wanting to share his emotions, always the funny guy. I am a sucker for these kind of heroes, Jack in Torchwood was the same! Which is why I fell so quickly for him.

But the doctors are the only ones that see that other side. The nightmares, the pain, the screams. And they never tell anyone, this is why you can trust them. You can feel safe there.

There was a scene in Star Trek where Spock says that everyone has gone down to the planet for some recreation except one guy who is stubborn and does not want to leave but hasn't slept much during the past days. Kirk was furious and said "I am ordering to leave, what's his name?" And Spock replied "James Kirk" LOL That look!

Everyone should have a McCoy to confide in :)

Yes! It gets lonely at the top. Jack usually said "This is what they pay me the big bucks for" but you have a lot of responsibility, thinking of your team first and yourself last. I would trust Jack O'Neill, Jack Harkness or Jim Kirk with my life and follow them everywhere.
