On Saturday on Galaxy Con was a virtual Star Trek Voyager panel with several guests, and afterwards you could book a one-to-one chat. I had to think long and hard whom to choose as I wanted to chat with all, but in the end decided on Tim Russ.

He plays a Vulcan and I had hoped his calming presence would be good for my nerves ;) It worked, I was not nervous at all and it was a wonderful chat. I opened with saying that I first saw him in "The Orville" and only watched "Voyager" for the first time last year. And we also talked about the episode where they go back in time to Los Angeles in the year 1996 which at the time they were filming was current, but watching it now looks so dated LOL
He looked so cool in the clothes they made him to wear in that episode.

Finally he told me about all the conventions he has been to in Germany and I probably was at a few of them as well but did not know him yet at the time :( But he says he will be back so cross your fingers.

You could book for 2 minutes but also for more and I got two sessions which they combined into a longer one. I definitely want to recommend this method. You can get up to 10 minutes but that will be expensive then! Tim Russ, Robert Duncan McNeill, Robert Picardo and Garrett Wang were all 85 USD for 2 minutes, but Kate Mulgrew, the captain, was 175 USD for 2 minutes.

Also in our chat a virtural picture was made and he will sign it and I'll get a copy. I paid another 20 USD for that.

I don't plan to upload my chat publically but if there is anyone who would love to see it (and is not disturbed by my German and also Saxonian accent ;) ) let me know and I'll send you a PM. Here are a few chats by others:

I love this one best, this is Kate Mulgrew and Mana with her three little girls who are also big Janeway fans. Kate is a mother herself and asks about the family and how they are holding up, so sweet: https://twitter.com/Manalyzer131/status/1353171369631109123

Robert Picardo and Eden - he plays the Doctor on Voyager and she asks about the doctor's advice in the pandemic, great question! They also talk about opera and musicals, wonderful sweet conversation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1jgfbuBKLPA

This is Kate Mulgrew and Gemma who asked a great question whether Kathryn would be differently if it was filmed today and I love Kate's reply: https://twitter.com/jemabean1/status/1353117987620986880

This is Kate Mulgrew and Alexis, who chatted with Kate some weeks ago already but when she said to sing for her time ran out. So this time Alexis sang for her and Kate is amazed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KOE38xr0Ti8

This is Jennifer Green who does barbecues and made me hungry with her food descriptions:
https://twitter.com/jennifergreen31/status/1353161958019772421

Kate Mulgrew and Tiffanie - they talk about her being a figure skater and Kate loves figure skating: https://twitter.com/Tiffanieskater/status/1353167744024203265

Kate Mulgrew and coffeemate_jc who is a teacher for special needs children and they talk about that: https://twitter.com/coffeemate_jc/status/1353115665310359552

Introduction: I recently got the Playmates Val Jean Maquis Raider. Who knew that Janeway likes to play with action figures as well? Isn't little Chakotay cute? LOL

He's done! I feel very accomplished today. I think I have outdone myself, even if I say so myself. What do you think? Does that look like Chakotay or what? *beams*

I had quite a struggle trying to mix the right skin tone, it always came out too brown and dark. And don't ask me about the tattoo! The black pen I wanted to use for it had dried up but I did not fancy waiting another day and buy a new one... then I realized, the pens for labeling CDs are waterproof as well.

Some Star Trek: Voyager costume cards have arrived in the mail! They are all pieces of the Maquis uniform Robert Beltran / Chakotay wore in the pilot episode "Caretaker".
Being able to touch the costume he wore is almost as good as touching the man himself, no? ;)
The first is like leather, the others a very scratchy woven material. Hopefully it was not itchy to him!

Much better, isn't it?

I pimped the 7" biobed as the red was a bit too dark from what we saw on screen. I had a sheet left over from when I scratchbuilt a biobed in 1:6 scale and it was just the right size. The golden squares should be smaller in this smaller scale but who cares. I even managed to make a pillow out of a small leftover. Nothing gets thrown away here!

I also removed the red stripe from the headboard. You can't see it in the before picture as it's already gone.

Just realized I never uploaded any of my Orville fic here. I shall change that.

I wrote my first Voyager fic! Any Voyager fans here, aside from those I already talked to? I'm watching it for the first time and enjoy myself immensely. This was not planned.

So when I came to the "Basics" two-parter I had two write something. This was originally a lot longer but my beta made me see what is important and cutting off stuff. Hope you like it!

Words: 1,167

Summary: "Here they were, stranded again on a planet. Only this time it was not just her and Chakotay, this time she had managed to bring the whole crew with her."

Kathryn and Chakotay have a talk. Missing scene to episode 3x01 "Basics part 2"

Stranded

Kathryn Janeway kept her face calm while the thoughts were tumbling in her head. Here they were, stranded again on a planet. Only this time it was not just her and Chakotay, this time she had managed to bring the whole crew with her.

He had been right. They should have run the other way and never looked back. But she sent him to think about his fatherly feelings and this was the result. She had let her own feelings decide for her. Because she didn’t want to let him search alone for Seska’s child, she’d led all of them into disaster.

One of many mistakes she’d made since she’d started this journey. They were piling up one by one, eating away at her.

At least on New Earth there was shelter and food. And a bathtub. It had been almost idyllic in comparison.

This time they had exactly – nothing. They’d managed to find food for today but what would tomorrow bring? And the day after that? And how cold was the night going to be?

“Trapped on a barren planet and you’re stuck with the only Indian in the universe who can’t start a fire by rubbing two sticks together.”

She could hear the frustration in his voice and in his eyes she could see how it weighed on him, thinking that he failed her. She tried to comfort him by pointing out that others had failed too, but he was having none of that. He was a proud man who took his heritage very seriously.

She’d seen him struggling with the fire for a while. She didn’t want to put even more pressure on him so she kept herself busy elsewhere but, secretly, she was watching him. He refused to give up, turning the stick faster and faster, to no avail. The tip of his tongue had come out, unconsciously trying to help as well. It made him look adorable, like a four-year-old.

And she’d never reveal those thoughts to him.

But she had to talk to him, and soon... (Story continues here) )

I built this Star Trek TOS biobed. I scanned, resized and printed the original red-brown-golden cloth from the Star Trek Continues sickbay pillow. The switch are two small beads. The rest is just cardboard and styrofoam. And spray paint, a lot of spray paint! Can’t wait to set up proper scenes. Please click the cut to see more pictures of how I built it!

I got something new in my collection which I want to show. Another Wresting figures item. It's made from real metal and rather sturdy, no cheap plastic! I actually had to screw the stand into the bottom. No moving bits otherwise but I still love it!

I was busy today - can anyone already see what this will become? ;)
I started out with glueing and nailing several pieces of styrofoam together to get a base. Then I coated it with cardboard as that will be easier to paint. Styrofoam will melt if spray painted with the wrong paint (that is not acid-free). So be careful if you want to attempt that too!

As promised, the introduction post for Doctor "Bones" McCoy. He comes with moving tricorder, phaser, communicator and lots of hands like Kirk and Spock. But his best bit is the medical set! It connects to his pants via magnets. And all the items can be taken out.
And he even has the small ring! It is loose and can be put on any hand. And the Exclusive version even has the medical tunic.

Okay, first for everyone who like me has an earworm since my previous post ;) Here is one of my favorite songs, I've loved it ever since I was a child and had no idea that it was from a musical. Here is the really funny interpretation with John Barrowman and Ruthie Henshall. One of the first songs I found that night when I found out that JB sings: Anything you can do I can do better

But I digress. Here is the promised proper introduction post for the Mezco Kirk. He is 16,5 cm / 6,5" high. And he has ONE advantage over the 12" QMX Kirk which you can see when you click the LJ cut ;)

The Mezco Kirk has arrived and it is a tiny version of the big one! I love both of them. I’ll do a proper introduction post yet. Just wanted to get this teaser picture out.

I just watched this Simpsons episode on German TV and giggled my way through the end credits, done in true Star Trek TOS style. They are spot on! My favorite are the cat lady with cats as Tribbles, and the twins. Yours?

Some picture of my first Mezco Spock. The Mirror Mirror version was first available at SDCC and can now be ordered at the Think Geek shop. There is also a Cage Spock variant available. Ordinary Spock has been out for a few months but has not reached German shops yet. There will be also Kirk and Sulu in October, and they work on a Captain's chair. Maybe we'll even get the whole bridge, that would be cool.

So far no plans to make the golden Mirror Kirk but I hope they'll do him one day.

These are 1:12 scale, even smaller than my other action figures, but with real clothes and great faces. With about 70 USD they cost more than normal figures, but considerably less than the 1:6 collectors scale. They also come with several hands for different poses, just like the big ones. See more pictures behind the cut.
