Sorry I'm so far behind in reading and leaving feedback!
First, I love Zero Hour, so your filling in the gaps with good insights has been great! When Jack watched the team walk up the ramp without him, that's about the saddest he ever looked. Then, being confronted by Ba'al again (not to mention all of the other madness going on in the background), he had to be about to lose his mind - literally.
So they would not ask but their expressions were clear. Carter and Daniel would have concerned faces and then exchange helpless looks with each other. And even Teal’c, who understood the warrior mentality, would look thoughtful. And Jack would ignore all of their looks and talk about anything else instead. Till finally someone – usually Daniel – cornered him and Jack either got mad or didn’t say anything more at all.
That's my favorite part! You nailed it! Jack never would have talked about it (except maybe briefly to Janet during post-dream outbursts in the infirmary), so doing further character exposition on the subject wasn't included in the show. That's what fanfic is for, right?
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and understanding of what might have happened "off the screen"!
