AFT: Action figure at work day

Tomorrow, March 4th, is Action figure at work day! Take your action figures to work and take pictures of them helping you work. Then post them with the hashtag #AFWD2016
Here is their official website where you then can see the results: https://www.facebook.com/ActionFigureWorkDay/?ref=ts&fref=ts

I participated last year and this is what I did:

Not sure yet whom I will take tomorrow. So many nice new figures have joined my collection!

Great pics.

Love the mousepad. How did you do that?

[identity profile] dieastra.livejournal.com 2016-03-03 06:41 pm (UTC)(link)
My friend made it. She is also in some of the pictures. It was a gift! I love it.
Can you not print any kind of things at pharmacys / photoshops? I'm sure she did it at one of those places. They also do mugs or bags or those shades you put on the car windows even.

Thank you!

I'll look into that. Thanks. Neat idea.

Did you have to stop Harkness from making calls at your office or block websites from him?

Sooooooooooooooo cute !

What do your coworkers think about this? LOL And why was your train empty? Is that normal?

[identity profile] dieastra.livejournal.com 2016-03-05 06:49 am (UTC)(link)
The co-workers are used to my figures, I often show the new ones around proudly, and I also let deliver to work now as I am not home when they arrive. I probably shot these in lunch break or on Friday afternoon, when most had gone home already ;)

It's not a train, it's a tram. I'm never sure if that is the right English word, but it goes through the city, overground, not underground like a subway. It's longer than what you see here, if you walk down the isle you would have found people. Also, I asked the guy sitting opposite me to photograph me so there was someone ;) I like sitting at the back end as I get more likely a free seat there. Most people get in at the middle. Also I go to work very late, around 9 AM, it is fuller earlier. Also when there are school holidays it is usually less full.

Ohhh, yes, I see!

Thanks!
Sadly I forgot my photocamera this year. I had my figure but no way to photograph it :(
Now I have to wait a whole year.

He got bored quickly and wandered off to flirt with my co-workers - male and female. So I was able to work in peace ;)

Take captain Jack to work. Watch him flirt with everyone. Tell him to stop. "I can't say hello to anyone?" :D

The minature paper and suitcase are adorable.

Yeah, poor guy, people get pregnant just because he said hello ;) (there was a picture with a woman at a convention, she had a baby belly and John held a sign with "All I did was say hi" - it was hilarious)

Last year on the Take your action figure to work day someone had their Ten doing a photocopy of his naked bum. THAT's what my Jack should've done!

For the paper, I just took of a part of my paper, nothing special. The suitcase is nice, it even opens up like a real one! I got it many many years ago when I did not do anything with figures yet. I think it is supposed if you want to give someone money as a gift, to put inside? I love that clips snap open like in a real one. I love things that work!

Sadly while I took a figure to work this year, I forgot the camera so no pictures :(

That's so funny! :D

There's always next year. Jack has at least few million years before he turns into the Face of Boe :)

(just in case you missed it in between all the kilt picture, I had put the pic with the pregnant woman in as well)

I've seen it, thanks for it! It's one of the best in-jokes about Doctor Who I've ever seen :)

Those are so funny. And that action figure is quite handsome. You did a great job dressing him a Jack. Love the wrist comm. I wouldn't have known the difference (except the hair is a little blond looking to me, but I see everything lighter than medium brown as blonde, for some reason.)

Oh, man, I must have a pop massaging someone, now!

[identity profile] dieastra.livejournal.com 2016-03-31 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
It's possible that the flash/light make the hair lighter than it actually is. I also could paint it. I have also made an Ianto, who originally was blond, and painted him.

Here are some funny pictures of how I made the Jack:

But we also will now get an officially and well done expensive collectors figure of Jack Harkness with the real face of John Barrowman. That was my biggest dream. As I was not able to find a coat. Some people are talented in sewing but I am not. I hope to preorder the real Jack this year and maybe get him next year. We already saw pictures from an exhibition and what struck me - he looks so young! But of course it has been 10 years.

I also have a Ninth Doctor on pre-order. I have two different Tens from that company, one in brown, one in blue suit, and they are awesome. I know there are lots of links in my list, but maybe one day you'll find time for them. I'm also eager to share my Star Trek pictures with you.

Oh, man, I must have a pop massaging someone, now!

Awesome idea! Sadly the next "Take your action figure to work day" is next year in March. You just missed it! You are supposed to take the pictures on the day and then tweet them with a certain hashtag. I've seen so many lovely and funny ones from all over the world. People have so interesting jobs. In an office, it's hard to find something special. The guy who originally started it two years ago also is overwhelmed how his idea has taken off.
