A hard day's work
A hard day's work (especially at 30+ °C / 86+ F)
I'm quite proud of doing it all by myself, especially since the instructions showed two guys. Heh!
2,5 hours plus I had to unscrew and rescrew a couple of times as it was the wrong way around. Plus they didn't always give any holes or signs of where the screw was supposed to go, it was rather "make up your own".
This is standing in the kitchen, behind the door, as the kitchen table is where I do all my action figure pictures and also crafty work, so I figured it would be nice to have all the assessories nearby and not have to walk through the whole flat all the time just to get something. It should also help keeping the kitchen table clear for the purpose it's meant to be, as often I was too lazy to tidy it all away.

They had counted exactly (8) the bolts where the shelves lie on. When I went to put them in, I suddenly had lost one. Haven't found it yet. But thankfully I had some left over from another furniture and since they are all the same standard size, I could use that one. So never throw the screws away, you never know when you can use them ;)
My Eastern Germany heritage coming through once more. We collected EVERYTHING for a possible later use. Even the parcel string when my aunt from Western Germany sent a parcel. As it was much better / stronger than ours.
Usually I do such assembling jobs together with my father, but he is turning 70 next year and I don't want to depend on him anymore. I figured I could always call him over if I get stuck.
Those instructions were weird in parts though. Showing where screws were supposed to go, yet now indication or hole. You just were supposed to screw them in like that. I did it all by hand but now I understand why some said that you would need an electric drill.

Well, it is two very stylized guys, I guess they could be women as well. In pants.
Did you know that we have some street lights in Dresden with a girl instead of a guy?

and one day that idea will actually be believable... or, hey, that a dress could his external genitalia... and that neither are worth mentionning unless you are attracted to the person and want to discuss posititons before getting nekkid...
I'm glad you included the picture cause I was blinking in confusion at what you meant by street lights with girls (I was thinking red district, lol)

so that's where my pack-rattery comes from. :)
Definitely! It's not your fault at all, it is in your blood LOL
If I am telling you some of the things... For example, when we got a parcel from the aunt in Western Germany, we did not just cut the string. We de-knotted it and used it again, as it was so much studier than ours. Also every Christmas my father got the tinsel from the Christmas tree carefully and it was re-used the next year. Even when we decorated the flat with paper streamers, they were rolled up for another use. Why buy new ones when you can keep the old ones?
And in nowadays time, a bit more of this attitude of preserving and re-usage could be needed? If I think, we used to repair shoes or washing machines - now it is cheaper to buy a new one than doing that. This is the capitalism. Nobody WANTS a washing machine that lasts for 20 years because they could not make any money (my mother still has hers and it works well) But is it good for our environment?
I once wrote a long blog about how things were different back then to what they are now - I think I already sent that to you years ago, yes?

My brother lives next door now so if all fails I can call him I guess. Only that he is not very crafty ;) - eh, I just looked into the dictionary and obviously that word does not mean what I always thought it means. I mean someone doing handicrafts. What would you call them?

Remember the time when I found that someone was doing Stargate action figure theatre with screws and I named the entry "Screw SG-1" in all innocence LOL
