I absolutely agree. What business is it of anyone's? I see on Tumblr so much of people labeling themselves, and calling out those who use the wrong label, or don't even know all the labels. So what? How does this foster tolerance and acceptance. There are people who label themselves by the results of I think the Meyers/Briggs psychology test. I am entx or netz something. I don't even know what that means. I don't actually think there are x's or z's in that, but not the point. Let's differentiate ourselves from others with our labels. I do not get this at all. People puzzle me. I'm so glad I'm not one. Well, my kids tell me I'm from another planet, and sometimes I think it must be true. LOL
Thinking about it, the labeling thing is just another way to feel superior to someone else, and open the door to justify prejudice and hatred. Why is it then so popular? We are regressing at an alarming rate, it seems. I frequently find myself thinking, this is not the America I was raised to believe it is. I thought we had made such progress in combating prejudice, and bigotry, and racism, but it turns out it was just politically incorrect for awhile and had gone underground, where it's been festering like a cancer for years. Suddenly, it is becoming acceptable again. This troubles me so much, and combined with the horrific behavior of our police in recent times, is really scary, too. I was raised to believe that the police are your friends, there to protect you. Who you go to when you are lost or in trouble. Now I think you should just run the other way when you see them. What has happened to my country?
