Introduction: Indiana Jones(es)

Would anyone want to see my new Indiana Joneses? So far I only had one of the small ones, but they are really small and not many joints and so I never did much with him.

But now that I found those 7" ones you may see them more appear in my stories. Apparently they were only sold at Disneyland stores and are therefore rare? At least that's what the ebay description said.

What can I say, I am a sucker for lots of accessory stuff and I love this:

It can be taken apart so I guess it will come in handy:

I'll have to watch the movies again as I don't remember some of the things:

And since I couldn't decide between the two I got this one as well:

Different setting:

Different accessories:

And even the whip he comes with is differently:

So, overall a good haul I guess!

I liked SS76 but I would have not watched it if Matty wasn't in it :D I loved Patrick Wilson in A Gifted Man, this is one of my favorite TV shows which was sadly cancelled after only 1 season. But it didn't end with a cliffie so it's a complete story more or less. And then I saw him in two insanely scary horror movies - The Conjuring and Insidious, at this point I just really like him :D And I think I'm ready to watch A Gifted Man again, hee

I almost made it to the end of season 5 with SG-1 :D

So I was watching "Raiders of the lost Ark" today ;) In English. I think the German sounded a little bit odd, a little bit too over correctly pronounced but yeah, grammatically it was correct. I also wondered why that one guy was telling Indy in German that the man in the bar wants to see him? Does he speak/understand German? Maybe he does, because when they caught him in the uniform he seemed to understand what the guy was saying.

And it occured to me - while the Germans were digging for the ark, they could have found the Stargate as well LOL I should do a crossover episode.

I wonder if you know this? I think it is pretty well made:

Stargate Season 5 was still good, season 6 also has some good episodes, but then they started to build ships and have Star Wars like space battles and this is not what I have signed up for :(

I hope you are not spoilered about future events?

ok, that movie is awesome, heeeee :D

And no worries about spoilering me for SG-1, I have already seen the whole thing, I may not remember details, especially from the later seasons because I've only seen them once, but I do remember the general flow of events. I really like Mitchell so I have something to look forward to in the last seasons :D

Of course it takes literally ALL of my willpower to resist the desire to start watching Atlantis, heee... I just know that once I get sucked into the Atlantis awesomeness, I'll have trouble getting back to SG-1 - and I'm determined to rewatch the whole SG-1 adventure, start to finish :D

Now most of the shows are on winter hiatus so there is not much on TV, my estimate is that by the time Christmas rolls in, I might be very close to the finish line :D

It is indeed awesome! Don't want to know how much time that took. I LOLed when the truck went down the hole ;)

Oh, I just meant regarding to Daniel but then again, I guess that is general knowledge now. But since you have seen it already anyway...

I don't remember when Atlantis started, it may be worth checking out the exact date as there was a cross-over episode. So you should watch it like it aired - one SG-1 one, one Atlantis one? As they also guest starred in each other's episodes?

So does that men you haven't seen Atlantis yet? I liked the first three seasons but after that it became quite repetitive and boring and I was glad when it was over. And I could not get into Universe at all and stopped after few episodes. Not even well-known guest starts like RDA could keep up my interest in that, and it seemed he also had no idea what he was doing there.

And since then - nothing :( While Star Trek gets another series next year. I always thought the Stargate universe could be as big with many new series and teams, if done well.

Atlantis started together with SG-1 season 8. When my mom and I first made it to season 8 of SG-1, we decided we wanted to give SGA a shot and started watching it after the lead-in episode in SG-1... and then we were alternating between SG-1 and SGA. I think it was easier the first time because we were still getting familiar with the SGA cast and the whole setup.

But after that, in the long run we have seen all seasons of Atlantis several times, either reruns on TV or I'd grab my SGA stash and we'd watch a few eps every day :D So I've seen all seasons of SGA several times... but again, it's been a few years since I've watched it so I don't remember the details, I'm sure once I'll start watching, it will all come back to me. And it will be the first time I'll be watching my blu-rays, before that I only had the complete series DVD and my recorded eps with Polish voice over for my mom.

So now it will be all English and all blu :D If only I could force Win 10 to communicate with my TV regarding the mirror copy function, my squee would be complete, lol :D

Yay for watching in English! Once I started with my English DVDs, I never bothered with the German TV versions again. Also, in one weird case, we actually got the DVDs before it first aired. And were accused of cheating (downloading) by Peter DeLuise at a convention when he claimed we could have not seen this on TV yet (where he was right).

I don’t know, something changed in Atlantis, and I did not like it. Towards the end it was only replicators and Wraith and Wraith and replicators… and they were running around on dark space ships never finding the light switch… I missed them going to actual missions to actual planets and meeting new people. In daylight.
And once fan favorite Paul McGillian was killed off and they found a way to include the female doctor into episodes she did not belong to just because the writers loved her so much (but were the only ones)… and I actually had liked Weir a lot as well and was sorry when she was forced to go. She’s the reason for my love for red shirts, like she wore. It’s my favorite color now, my glasses, my watch, my sandals, my umbrella, my rucksack… LOL

Obviously, something changed in the last SG-1 seasons as well and I did not like it either. It’s definitely not Mitchell’s or Ben Browder’s fault – I saw him at a convention and he seems to be a great likeable guy – again I blame it on the writers. Nobody was checking their stories anymore, and they became more ridiculous. What was a good drama show with some humor liked by real Air Force people became a comedy and over the top. And I could not get accustomed to that. So yeah, I probably should watch them again as well, as I only saw them once and had no desire to watch again and have forgotten most.

We used to have long discussions at Gateworld about all the things that were just wrong, but the biggest gripe of course is that the Air Force never would have given a newbie who never had been through the gate before the leader of the flagship SG-1 team when there were so many other qualified people doing this for years. No way. It used to be that Jack was the one telling Daniel that he shall not touch anything – now it was Daniel telling Mitchell not to touch anything. Isn’t that just wrong on so many levels? He could have joined the team as a newbie, and over the years we could have more new people and new teams and it could have gone on forever. It’s certainly not that I was saying that I would not watch because of no RDA. You could clearly see that he had lost his joy at the end, and I didn’t like his performance either. Just dumb jokes nobody laughed about, but no important bits in the stories. It’s understandable with family trouble at home and then again he had wanted to quit after season 5 already.

But it must have hurt him when after he was gone they basically said “Yay, now that Dad’s out of the house, we finally can do whatever we want with nobody telling us off”, and so they did, and we saw where that led to.

It led to me not taking out my DVDs or action figures for YEARS. It’s only recently that they get to play again. That’s how sad the whole thing had made me, and I fled into Doctor Who and Torchwood, not looking back for a long time. But one day I am going to do that scene from the crossover, was it Sheppard giving Mitchell the lemon or something? The McKay figure comes with a small lemon, and a little scene like that was the first action figure theatre I ever saw in the internet. This is the thing that did start it all for me.

Hmmm, I think that my overall perception and enjoyment of the franchise was in a way saved by me not being part of the fandom when the episodes were still on air. I was only a member of a tiny Polish forum but the way it functioned was nothing like the forums nowawads. Basically, I didn't know and didn't particularly care about what was going on backstage, I was never exposed to any hatred wars and character bashing which I know happened in both SG-1 and SGA. It was always just me and the episodes and I didn't have a problem with any of them, of course some were my favorites and some were not particularly interesting but overall, it was a fun adventure without any fandom baggage :D

I wish I could say the same thing about poor White Collar, obviously I still love my boys and it's the only fandom that inspires me to play with Photoshop but the idea of actually going back and watching episodes gives me stomach ache. The sad part is that I don't have a problem with the show and with any of the episodes but over the few years my brain involuntarily formed certain associations with either particular episodes or aspects of fandom and now I just can't bring myself to watch it. I'm sure (and hope) it will change in time... le sigh.

Weird things are weird... luckily there are plenty of other shows I can go back to... I'm contemplating Three's Company as a change of mood :P (Herzbube mit Zwei Damen :P)

Other way around for me - I just watched "White Collar" without doing anything else, except from reading a fanfic here and there probably.

You are absolutely right that sometimes it is better this way. Then again, with reading so much in forums after having watched "Arrow" or "Doctor Who", I realize how many things I miss that then get pointed out in discussions. So I probably wouldn't understand half of the backgrounds without this.

I am sorry to hear your enjoyment of the episodes was so tarnished. But I can indeed assure you that one day it won't matter as much anymore. From experience, there also have been things in the past that gave me literally belly-aching just thinking about them and now, several years later, I am just meh about it. I have moved on, other things became more important, and it gives you a new perspecive. Time does heal wounds indeed. Just wait for it!

I don't think I've ever heard of that other show you mentioned. But then again I am not much into sitcoms. The only exception which I regularly watched was "Full House" - and several ALF episodes, if that counts as a sitcom as well? May be nice to revisit that one.
