AFT Torchwood: A Jack for everyone - updated

Some years ago I had a discussion with friends about Jack re-growing after the explosion in CoE from just an arm and shoulder. What if a leg was lying somewhere else and made another Jack?

A funny action figure story called "A Jack for everyone" was created that evening. Well, any reason I can show off my many Jack figures! I've posted it then but now updated it with actual speech bubbles, so it does look like a real comic now.

Get her away from our Jack. She is evil. Evil, I tell you. Otherwise, neat. :)

There's enough Jacks for everyone ;) Did you see the complete story?

[identity profile] excentric397.livejournal.com 2016-01-14 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, but no. Not for Gwen. Uh uh. No way. :) Love that desk, btw. I've saved a clearer picture of it. It is so neat, and teeny.

Yes! One for Gwen! :D

LOL you said something similar when you commented on the original story many years ago. Some things never change ;)

Yep! I went back to the story after I replied here and laughed when I saw my comment. :D

I'm surprised Capt. John hasn't noticed Eye Candy yet.

Huh! I guess we failed there. You are right.

Nice. Everyone gets their own Jack.

Thanks! There never can be enough Jacks.
(You saw the whole story at the link, right?)

You know that I don´t know Torchwood (yet) - but I really like this idea of yours!:-)

Thanks! All you need to know - and this is why we are joking about Malcolm Merlyn and the Lazarus Pit - that AGAIN John Barrowman is playing a man who lives forever ;) You would think he writes it in his contract or something LOL

Jack Harkness in Torchwood can't die. I mean, he can die, but he always comes back from the death. And in the third Torchwood season someone wanted to make sure to kill him with a bomb that ripped him apart. He literally grew back completely from just an arm and shoulder. I guess that does not sound appealing right now and it was rather dark, the first two seasons are more fun.

You know, I never cared for shows like Highlander with immortal people. But once you really start to think about it, it is actually quite tragic. Jack is afraid of falling in love, because he knows that he will lose everyone one day, and he has seen many friends and lovers die and still carries on. That he still remains to be such an upbeat funny and charming guy despite all this, is actually quite amazing.

There was one episode which I particularly like, during the war he had been in love with a woman, who now was an old woman, but he kept visiting her, telling her he was the son of the man from back then.

I guess I just wanted a way to show off how many different Jack figures I had ;)

Three Jacks? I can't tell you what I'm thinking right now! :D

The comic looks very well with the bubbles!

LOL one of the comments on Tumblr was "Nice, but let’s face it if there were this many Jacks, they’d be getting busy amongst themselves first."

Thank you! I am reworking them because it is much easier to post them on Tumblr that way. More visual. Downside is that I have to cut them down to 10 pictures which is not always easy. This one was an instant hit, 90 notes already.

[identity profile] alumfelga.livejournal.com 2016-01-17 12:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I think people on tumblr might be right! :D

Pardon my tumblr, but does "notes" means likes, reblogs, or anything else?

[identity profile] dieastra.livejournal.com 2016-01-17 03:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Pardon my tumblr, but does "notes" means likes, reblogs, or anything else?

Likes and reblogs combined, yes. Usually I only get likes, but this particular story has gotten a high number of reblogs also, and of course the more reblogs, the more people see it and then reblog it again. And if you are very lucky, you even get a comment with the reblog, but that is very rare sadly. This is why I prefer comments on LJ.

Sometimes people like it first and reblog it then, so that makes two notes ;)

[identity profile] alumfelga.livejournal.com 2016-01-18 05:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks for the clarification :) I use tumblr mostly as a source of gifs and links, and sometimes people are first to spread fandom news there so I watch a few. Reblogs and likes are nice but as you say, there's nothing better than an actual conversation and tumblr doesn't look like a good place to have it.

Have you seen though that you now can write to anyone on Tumblr? I think that is a big improvement! Before, you needed to follow someone for 48 hours before you could contact them. Now you can open a chat window with anybody. It's still no comment function, but at least I can talk with someone if I want to.
