Dresden: Day of the open city hall plus Obama in Dresden

Today was the day of the open city hall in Dresden. We saw the mayor's bling - chain of office and city hall key - and also President Obama's signature in our Golden book. "Greetings from the people of the United States" he wrote, and he brought this clock as a gift. We also met the woman who writes these nice letters into the book with the names - she shall not make a mistake!

I wouldn't have thought I would get another outing for my "Obama in Dresden" tag so many years later! Check it out, there are pictures of his visit in 2009.

Ow wow, it sure is serious bling. (Nice choice for the colour of the velvet. ^^ )

I learnt the word "bling" from Sean Pertwee when he posted Alfred's bling: https://www.instagram.com/p/5rzquzOOF_/

I hadn't heard it before! The things you learn LOL

I somehow prefer red velvet, I don't know why. It looks royal? But the blue certainly sets off the gold very nicely.

Or the President! Few years ago, our former president Komorowski made two spelling mistakes in one sentence in a memory book, and of course the press wrote about it. People remembered it for months, and - since it was my first thought when I read your post - never quite forgot. Be careful what you write when everybody's looking!

Not sue if I'd like that chain - it looks heavy - but they key's beautiful.
