Stranger Things: Curiosity voyage paddles
Another one for my librarian friends
vjezkova and
quarryquest ;)
From "Stranger Things" episode 2x03. The dialogue went like this:
"Mr. Henderson, you know the rules. Five at a time."
"Yep. One, two, three, four and five."
"Ten. You already have five books checked out."
"My mistake. However... I am on a curiosity voyage, and I need my paddles to travel. These books... These books are my paddles."
(the boys got the curiosity voyage thing from their science teacher who is awesome and enthusiastic)

(with special appearance of librarian Nancy Pearl and some kids from "Gotham")

I don't remember what the rule in my childhood library was but I always got a bunch.
I find it most curious that she calls him Mr. Henderson?

And, hahaha, it reminds me of my librarian years when "my people" usually managed to let them have more than the rules said (in our libary, 8 items).
And I myself was a nightmare for librarians when I was a school girl!:-)

Too bad you are watching alone, if you had watched with others you could have made them think you are psychic, knowing what they would say ;)
But yeah, it's always funny coming from the wrong end of things and picking up details. Like one of the Victoria episodes had her mentioning P.T. Barnum and some months ago I wouldn't have known who that was. But thanks to Hugh Jackman now I do.
I really got my money's worth out of that library, didn't I?

Oh, I know another difference between stages 2 and 3 we talked about - when I'm a fan, everything is a spoiler to me and I don't want to know anything before I watch an episode. When I just like a series, I'm reasonable and I don't mind knowing small things.
I know Barnum from "Barnum effect" that's a thing in psychology when you read a random description of personality and think it's you:

I didn't know it was the same guy High Jackman played in "The Greatest Showman"! I liked the movie.
The library looks amazing!

Will be interesting to hear your opinion of season 3...
At the time when Torchwood Children of Earth first aired and I had not yet any interest in watching it, I was in a private forum where friends talked among themselves and one apparently had heard rumors about Ianto's death. At the time I did not even know who Ianto was so definitely didn't mind spoilers. Then when I watched some time later I somehow remembered this conversation and figured, oh, this is probably the episode where Ianto dies. So it did not come as a shock to me like others.
But you are right, with shows I care about I try to watch as soon as possible. The last two Orville episodes of season 2 were a two-parter, and after the cliffhanger ending of the first of course you wanted to know how they would continue. I actually watched it Friday morning before going to work, to be on the safe side. Otherwise I could have not visited the internet all day long, which is no option ;)
Huh, never have heard about that Barnum effect. I was late watching the movie, did it in the week before going to the concerts as I figured he might sing some songs from it (and of course he did and they were very popular). If I ever find time in my busy schedule I should educate myself more about this fascinating guy as many have pointed out that what we got in the movie is a kinda whitewashed version and there is more to his story. But yeah, I loved it too. It blew me away. Both the songs and also the execution. Especially the one in the bar where they drink and sing and dance so effortlessly.

I can't believe what is happening there. Why is almost everyone behaving like an emotional idiot? I don't know if you want spoilers in comments, so I'm not going to elaborate here, but I'm shaking my head in disbelief. Well, I wanted surprises...

I hate when it happens. That's why I try to stay away from spoilers for tv series I don't watch, in case I wanted to watch them one day. I'm currently reading "Game of thrones" and enjoy not knowing almost anything. But sometimes it's just not possible to avoid spoilers.
