Hauls: Missy is here!

Even though I don't really like her character, I do like the figure a lot. So much that I could not decide which one to get and got both. The heads are meant to be swappable but I have not been able to get them off yet. Still, nice idea.

As opposite to other Doctor Who figures, she can outstretch her arms! Very nice. It is necessary to hold the umbrella properly.

She even has rings on her hands:

And here I was wondering why both had a black spot on their hands LOL

Nice boots as well:

I have two of these now:

I had her try out my Polly Pocket umbrellas I once got for the Torchwood team:

Love these. She is a great character, and it seems they have done her justice. Love the umbrellas.

She would be a great character if Moffat didn't write all women in the exact same way. So for me she is only a copy of River Song and Irene Adler, and it gets boring after a while.

But the figure is nice indeed. Highly recommended. I thought I could always use an English lady, even if I don't use her as Missy. Have you read the Torchwood books? In one Jack is scared of an old lady which comes for inspection every 100 years. I could use her for that ;)

Interesting what you say about River Song and Irene Adler - I don't know River but when I have seen episodes with Missy in them even her dialogue reminds me of Irene (and Lara Puliver - however you spell her name- could have done a wonderful Master). The other thing that worries me is she seems to be a dark version of Mary Poppins.

On a completely different (female) Dr Who discussion, what do you think of Madam Vastra? I bumped into her watching Deep Breath and I must say I like her very much.

River Song is basically a female Jack Harkness. Flirting with everyone, travelling through time, you never know where you are with her right now. I love her but there are lots that think it's overdone and too much and complicated the more she was brought back.

Madam Vastra and Jenny are great! They have been in a few more episodes before Deep Breath. Here is also a fun short clip:

Interesting. I feel like she is John Sim's Master turned female. I love her character, as I loved his. I love how different people see things completely differently.

Well, I gotta admit, I like her better this season. Not sure if she has changed or my view of her? She had a few really funny lines. I didn't like season 8 as a whole, so maybe I was a bit harsh on her. Also, it's certainly not the actress's fault if the stories are bad.

I like her, I like Capaldi, I don't like Clara or the general way things were going last season. Have not watched any of this season at all. It just doesn't interest me. There is so little worth watching on tv anymore. I started rewatching SG1 on Netflix this week.

Lovely figures, I think the hat would have looked better on the black one though :)

They say that you can change the heads, so I could put the head with the hat on the other figure. I haven't tried yet though.

I'm not a fan of the character either but Michelle Gomez does what she can. She'd pull off those colorful umbrellas :D

I think the violet one goes nicely with the costume ;)

The action figures are very true and appear to be of excellent quality. As for the character, Missy, she looks like an evil Mary Poppins. ;) She gives me the total creeps because she is the doppelganger of my doctor, who happens to also be a very dear friend and entirely lovely person.

A nice acquisition for your growing collection!

Well, to be honest, she may grow on me. I like her much better this season than I liked her at the end of last season. I found her way over the top then – now I find her funny. Not sure what has changed. I didn’t like season 8 as a whole and the way the Doctor was portrayed, so that may be a reason. He has toned it down as well this year.

And yes, the Mary Poppins look is what I liked about the figure!

She also can play that lady from the Torchwood books, of which Jack was so scared. The one that comes for inspection every 100 years.

Oh, I forgot about inspection lady. Yeah, she would be great in that role as well.

Inspection lady ;)
I loved the book! Okay, the ending was weird, but the rest? She really pushed all of Jack's buttons. It's not often you see him like that!

True. Sometimes, it's the background characters that are really well-written and interesting. I like that.
