AFT Torchwood: Jack and Ianto are dancing

And this is what I needed that selfmade fireplace for! It's for the March competition in the Sixth Scale FB group with the theme "Dancing".

In my mind, Jack and Ianto rehearse at home for their wedding dance...

Very interesting what a difference a few well placed electrical tealights and candleholders make! I really should not put my Christmas decorations too far away. They certainly come in handy. But it is very straining, as I have to hold one in the air to light the faces, and photograph with only one hand. I did the first pictures in the afternoon but was not satisfied so waited till it was dark outside and did it again. The red one is what I posted in the contest. Two more (blue and green) under the cut.

The red one is just right, in my view. Love the fireplace. Saw your 'how I did it'. Very clever, whoever thought it up. I don't always comment, but I do love these posts.

Yeah, the red one is what I put into the contest. The others are just variants I did not want to throw away. One of the candles changes colors so you have to click the button at the right moment. I took a lot of pictures which were too dark or not right.

If I ever find the link again I'll add it to give credit.

Thank you! I'm happy to make people happy.

Cute concept! The red one is definitely the best. Love their pose and the pictures on the mantle.

Thank you! I need to see if I can find a light that only shines red, as I think I may need it a lot for the fireplace.

The Facebook group is very inspirational, I have ideas for all contests of this year!

Good luck with finding that light.

That's awesome that you found some inspiration.

awww so sweet. I miss Torchwood. I miss Captain Jack & Ianto too. Not that John Barrowman isn't great on Arrow. Merlin just isn't Jack.

[identity profile] dieastra.livejournal.com 2016-03-06 08:14 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you! In my mind, they are all alive and well and still having many adventures.

Do you listen to the Big Finish audioplays? After a long dry spell, at least this is new Torchwood.

And I don't know of you follow John Barrowman on Facebook, but he recently posted a few videos where he watched the first TW episode and commented in between and you could see how emotional it made him and he also said that this is good stuff and there should have been more.

AND he said there is a reason why he watches it! My guess is that he and Carole might write for Big Finish? I don't dare to hope for anything else, but you never know! Maybe the audioplays being so successful can lead to something else.

I love audio dramas and somehow I missed these Torchwood ones. I've never heard of Big Finish before as I usually get audio books/dramas from either Audible.com or iTunes. I must check them out. Thanks for the heads up!

I refuse to go near Facebook so I miss out on a lot of things but it's a personal choice and I'm ok with it.

Big Finish is very famous for keeping the Doctor Who light on after it was originally cancelled in the Eighties. A lot of the older Doctors got constant work there, and the newest addition are River song and also the Tenth Doctor and Donna. Can't wait for those to come out.

The Torchwood line started last year in September, you could pre-order since May. You can order single pieces or the whole series - they are all connected in a way. The first series was 6 episodes and the second series will start in March.

It's not really a play with the whole Torchwood team, there is either Gwen or Ianto or Jack or Yvonne plus guest actors but it's still very nice.

This is their website: https://www.bigfinish.com/

You can order CDs or downloads.

Do you also know the other Torchwood radio plays with full cast that have been done before? Here is a list of everything that's available:

wow...that's a lot of stuff I didn't even know existed esp the full cast one. Thanks!!! Have to check out the River Song ones because I just loved her character.

You're welcome! Also, as it turned out now, the reason why JB was watching old Torchwood was not that he's writing for Big Finish, but him and Carole are doing official Torchwood comics now! I think the first one is supposed to be out these days / soon. I already saw several cover variants. Hard to decide which one to get.

So the Captain leads?

[identity profile] dieastra.livejournal.com 2016-03-06 08:11 am (UTC)(link)
I'm afraid Ianto leads. I wasn't sure which way around but too lazy to check it. The arms should be the other way around. But why should Ianto not do it for a change? They can always switch!

Ha, I am familiar with this pairing even though I've never watched the show... but any canon slash is a win in my book, heee

But seriously, what I'd give to have a set like that but with Peter and Neal :D :D :D :D :D
It could be the start of a new hobby, hee :D

They are indeed pretty famous ;) I also knew about Jack and Ianto long before I started to watch Torchwood, and long before there was Tumblr or anything. I also love that meme that says “My OTP doesn’t need Photoshop” LOL

But seriously, what I'd give to have a set like that but with Peter and Neal :D :D :D :D :D

You and me both! I certainly would buy that. Sadly they don’t seem to do figures of crime shows, only superhero or science fiction.
You may not know this, but the two figures in my picture are no original ones. I took another figure that looked similar in face, and then bought the clothes to match. It is a great hobby, trying to find the perfect stuff. With Ianto, I also repainted the hair, originally he was blond.

There will be soon an official Jack for pre-order though, this has been my wish for many years and I can’t wait for that. Who knows if some company one day gets the licence for TW figures. For Star Trek it only took what, 50 years? *rollseyes*

So, providing Tim and Matt may get a figure from another show they are in one day (Tim in S.H.I.E.L.D. maybe?) – or providing I am able to find one with just the right face - I totally would get them and then just buy suits to make them into Peter and Neal. There are also people in the internet that actually sell selfmade headsculpts and then you make your own figure, but again I don’t think there will be enough interested for this and they need a few people so it won’t get too expensive.

We also would need a hat for Neal of course. I even saw an internet shop where you can request a special hat with color, style etc. and they make it for you. Awwwwww…

I admit I'm still amazed that there's so many options available for figures and customizing, hee :D

Yeah, I would totally get Peter and Neal and then either buy clothes for them or just make them myself :D
