Haul of the day: A sailboat

I got a sailboat today. And the best part? I didn't pay a cent for it. Because I had gotten a voucher from my furniture store for my birthday back in October. Time was running out on it so today I went to look for some goodie. And I found this.

I didn't know it when I bought it as it was all folded up in a box but you can actually really set or take down the sails. How cool is that?

All you need to do is pulling up the golden thing at the rope here. And if there happens to be no wind at all, you even have oars:

I'm quite happy with my purchase! So which of my figures should take a sailing trip?

Your sailing boat is great!

I vote for Jack. It's been a while since I've watched Stargate SG-1, but I seem to remember him with a boat at one point.

I would be all up for this except Jack is sadly way too big to fit into this boat :( I chose the Halo guy as he is significantly smaller and yet you can see he barely fits in, not sitting on the bench properly (could't stretch out his feet far enough) and barely able to hold the rudder.

I just did a post with Jack and the Halo guy to show you the difference in size. It's meant to resemble Richard Dean Anderson when he did a promotion for this video game: http://dieastra.livejournal.com/197970.html

Lovely boat.

Nice boat! So who wants to be a pirate? Maybe you can fulfill Sherlock's child dream :)

I love my boat! Actually I had planned to buy new plates but none of the designs appealed to me. But I kept coming back to the boat which was 9,90 Euro so fit the description perfectly.

You seem to know Sherlock better than I do - where and when did he say that? But at least he would be smaller than Jack O'Neil who was suggested above and who definitely is too huge for it. I shall try Sherlock then. Do I need to give him an eye patch? Do I have a little parrot? *think* If not, I should get one. One surely can have many uses for a parrot ;)

Edit: No parrot :( Can he also have a turtle dove? A pelican? A bat?

In "Scandal in Belgravia" Mycroft said it to John in the cafe, near the end of the episode. They try to figure out Sherlock, with his brain of a scientist and a heart of a philosopher (or something like that), but a decision to become a detective. Mycroft added, "initially, he wanted to be a pirate". :)

Sherlock and a parrot! :D

EDIT
Oh, no parrot. But excentric as he is, he can have anything :)

Ah, so he didn't say it himself. That's what threw me. I would remember if he said it ;)

I found a parrot. Just 5 Euro. I'll get it for him before he starts whining. But I am so making a story with the pelican and the bat and the turtle dove before LOL

Thank you for the inspiration!

Here is the parrot, it comes from China and has real feathers, and is scale 1:12 which is the right dollhouse scale and perfect size for Sherlock: http://www.ebay.de/itm/1-12-Puppenhaus-Miniatur-Handgemachte-Tier-Vogel-Papagei-Parrot-Dekor-/401045968510?hash=item5d6033d67e:g:h3EAAOSwhkRWe70W

I'm really happy about it!

I'm really happy about it! I actually wanted to look for plates but I didn't like any of those they had. But somehow I was drawn to that boat. The voucher was for 10 Euro and the boat was 9,90 Euro, so perfect!

Nice. I like how real all wooden parts look, especially the paddles.

You're welcome! I'm looking forward to see the results :)

Nice boat!

I love it! We may see it soon in a story. With Sherlock as a pirate LOL

Yeah, that was one of the things that drew me back to the shelf a few times. Usually either you get a cheap boat and it looksk cheap, or when you want it to look good it is much more expensive. But the quality for this relatively little money is quite stunning.

They hadn't it on display fully put together, so I had to open the box and use my imagination. I am really happy about it.
