So, I have been wondering. Do you think it's better if I keep these simple black backgrounds, or should I cut out the figures and put them on real backgrounds? I have a few of the Voyager ship and also of sickbay now.

I think it depends what you're aiming for. If you want the focus to be on the figures, then a plain background would probably be better.

The real backgrounds make the whole diorama look great though!

I liked it very much. To tell the truth, I immediately recollected a children´s rhyme about an injured ant: the ant doctors treated him as best as possible but he was still very ill. But then one ant stroked his feverish brow and blew on his wound - and suddenly, the healed and jumped from his bed:-).
