AFT Doctor Who: Episode "Journey's End"

One of my favourite episodes as it was a crossover with "Sarah Jane Adventures" and "Torchwood" and had all of them working together in flying the TARDIS. There is no figure of Jackie so she is hidden behind the TARDIS pole ;)

I love this. It is so cool!

Thank you! It's always a hassle to set up the whole set but so worth it! The thing in the middle even moves and has sound.

It looks so real!

I don't have to mention I love that episode, do I? ;) Everyone in the TARDIS, driving the Earth back home. One of the bect moments in Doctor Who history.

Was the TARDIS' console an individual element or did you buy it with a figure, presumably the Dotctor's?

No, it does not come with any figure. I bought the whole set - console, walls, floor, there is even the hatstand and the hammer that is hanging at the rail, and the padded handrail and the seat of course. This is what the set looks like complete - for some odd reason they only include two wall panels, so I had to copy them to make more: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dr-Who-Tardis-electronic-lights-sounds-Playset-/121745958990?hash=item1c589fe84e

It even lights up and has sound and moves!

One of the best episodes indeed. I loved how also those that were not in the TARDIS - Torchwood and also Harriet Jones, let's not forget her - did their part to help.

Which episode was this? I'm pretty much a classic who watcher but I'd be interested to catch one of the more modern ones which sounds decent.

It’s the second part of a two-parter in the middle of season 4, they are called “Stolen Earth” and “Journey’s End”. I am seriously wondering though whether you will have the same emotional response to seeing this multi-crossover with so many people working together if you don’t have any previous attachment to Rose, her mother Jackie, Mickey, Martha, Donna, her grandfather Wilfred (Bernard Cribbins who is awesome!)… So maybe try a few others first, to get to know them better? Have you seen any new Who at all? Or would this be your first? I’d love to be your guide!

Other episodes everyone agrees are among the best and stood out as special are:

Season 1: “The empty child” & “The Doctor dances”

Season 2: “The girl in the fireplace”

Season 3: “Human Nature” & “The Family of Blood”,
“Blink” (THE best ever, you can ask everyone)

Season 4: “Silence in the Library” & “Forest of the Dead”,
“Midnight” (this one has excellent acting in a claustrophobic and simple setting)

Interestingly enough, most of them are written by Steven Moffat while now that he has taken over completely, I don’t like his style not as much anymore. We are guessing that Russel T. Davies brought in some emotional element and character stuff which Steven on his own is lacking.

Of course there are many more I truly like but without knowing your taste, it is difficult. What do you mean with “decent”? The ones I listed above are all rather serious, sometimes even dark or creepy and sad also. But excellent acting. Many people did not like David Tennant’s over the top portrayal when he became goofy and silly. Other people like especially that. So if you rather want humour or lighter stuff, please ask again!

I have seen a few new Dr Who - watched several of the Eccelstones, have seen Blink and ones with Madame Vastra, I even have a guilty pleasure in The Lazarus Experiment and went hunting the location for the cathedral they used in that in the summer.

The cathedral in Wells, if I am not mistaken? The fun thing is, that in 2006 I was in Wells (for the first ever convention with Richard Dean Anderson which also marked my first UK trip), apparently only three weeks after Who had filmed there. Of course at the time I had no idea of any of this or what Doctor Who even was. I love the city and we even went to the cinema to watch “Hot Fuzz” just because of Wells. Our convention was held inside the Bishop’s Palace, can you imagine? Best venue ever. In the ticket included was a bus trip to Glastonbury the other day, as the Arthur’s legend had featured in Stargate at the time.

Has your guilty pleasure anything to do with one certain Mark Gatiss? LOL

I forgot to ask – what about Torchwood? Since Jack’s origins are in Doctor Who and he returned a few times – I love also “Utopia”, the first part of a three-parter at the end of season 3, which is set between Torchwood seasons 1 and 2 and has John Simm as the Master and that famous shot of Jack clinging to the outside of the TARDIS riding through the vortex. Becoming a Torchwood fan actually brought me back to Doctor Who in a roundabout circle.

Well, whatever you decide to watch, I hope you'll like it!

Yup, I've watched quite a few Torchwood and had a laugh about where they have shot stuff (a weevil came running down the same alleyway in Bute Town that the assassin in Sherlock had to dash through to save them from the bus). I like the ladies in Torchwood too.

p.s. I agree with you about Steven Moffatt - great stories but but needing a controlling hand.

It's very impressive. I don't have a clue why only two wall panels, there should be all of them so one can arrange the "set" how he likes. But - the sound! *grins*

I agree. And K-9, too!

Awesome! Well done

Thank you! It's an old one actually, don't know why I never posted it.

oh this is lovely, I loved that episode and especiay the Song of Freedom played when they were pulling the Earth back to its place, I have the song on my phone and I love listening to it.

Thank you! It was a wonderful multi cross-over. I also loved to see Harriet Jones back. If this would have been the end of the seris it would have been a worthy one.
