You still can buy a ticket for the con in Birmingham, with RDA, Teryl Rothery, Gary Jones (Chevron guy) and Dan Shea will be there as well! And it's not so far like Vancouver, and you have to make good use of your travel insurance, after all... LOL
I just looked it up, Dan was born in 1954, so four years younger than RDA, which would make him 56. Did you see the link I gave in the comments? I am very envious:

You could be right with the stunts. I recently saw a documentation about Gojko Mitic, who has done all those Indian movies in Eastern Germany. He did all his stunts himself, and there also was one where Rolf Hoppe (the bad guy) was hanging from a mountain, with just his leg in a rope, and his leg broke because of that.
But of course, with the space missions, also many things have gone wrong and many people have died.
