Today's story was inspired by President Obama talking about Star Trek recently. I thought he might want to meet his hero!

A follow up post to the pool picture

So QMX wanted to know where they do R&R. I couldn’t come up with any witty reply so I just did what I do best - another picture. Looks as if they are staying for a while!

Germany is dealing with another heatwave. So I wanted my figures to stay cool.
The ice-cream are Japanese erasers!

The next day I made a follow-up picture: Vacation





And a behind-the-scenes shot: To create the pool, I put three of my cardboards over each other. First the grass, then the brick wall, then the water. As they reached far over the end of the kitchen table, I had to support them with a stack of books on the kitchen chair.

Today I invested in some colorful backgrounds. I was aiming for the artificial studio light in the scenes on a planet that were shot in a studio. Especially the purple one was inspired by screenshots I saw on Tumblr of the episode "That which survives". But the most important bit - at 16:00 you'll see one of my action figure pictures. I had put some of my Star Trek Comics into the art gallery. I feel very honored!

My Thanksgiving picture on Tumblr, that was reblogged by the official Doctor Who Tumblr, has reached 1000 notes! Damn, I wanted to be the one that posted the 1000th. Last time I checked it was 995, I must have missed the others arriving.

1000 may not seem much if you see other posts with tenthousands or even hundreds of thousands notes, but for me it is a big deal. Who would have thought it would reach that when I thought 582 was much already?

Seems I hit a nerve there ;) 45 Likes and 14 Retweets - among them the official Star Trek Continues Twitter as well as Colin Baker himself (who played a guest part in episode 4). Consider me thudded *thud*

Good that I made a tag for that to collect it all ;)

Today I posted my Thanksgiving pictures to my Tumblr account. When I left work in the evening it had 27 notes.

I went to a concert and when I returned a few hours later I found 582 notes and it is still rising by the minute. 624 631 655 669 right now. Just for comparison - the post with the most notes (which means likes or reblogs) had been so far the one with the selfmade 3D chess for the Star Trek figures which had 276 notes but that took several days if not weeks. Usually it is far, far less, sometimes only around 10.

So how come it had climbed that quickly in just a few hours? The reason is I got reblogged from THE official Doctor Who page. And from there it snowballed with more people reblogging and therefore more seeing it. Got a few new followers out of it as well (although I get a new one almost every day, 449 at the moment).

Finally! It took a lot of effort but was so worth the trouble. I actually called to the UK and ordered two paper copies of the Ipswich Star newspaper with my friend Julie Shofner and myself in it. It's right on top of page 2 if you turn the title page.

Oh, Julie also was so kind to let the online version print and let it sign by John after I had already returned home. What a nice gift. And apparently John commented that he had seen and read it. He really sees everything. How does he do it with his busy schedule?



I think it's time for a new tag. Introducing the I'm famous tag. Covering me being in newspapers and TV, displays of figures in magazines and being retweeted or replied by Barrowmans. Can't find the Christmas stories that were published in my local newspaper right now, I shall add them later. And probably the story of the author of a Götz George biograhpy that once called me...

I lost count how many times I have been famous now ;) That time when I got interviewed for TV and newspaper when President Obama visited my home city and I walked around with a 12″ version of him… or that time Carole Barrowman reposted the pictures of my Torchwood figures reading her “Hollow Earth” book… Or that time a story I had written was published in my local newspaper… Or that time my Doctor Who figures doing the Hamlet play made it into the Shakespeare magazine…

But here is a new one. An article with an interview with a friend and me. We were both at the John Barrowman concert in Ipswich on Tuesday, and beforehand had answered some questions about why fans travel from all over the world to see him in concert.
