They have them here, but not much. They are often found in dormitories in colleges to save space for students. They don't exactly have a name.
Now days, you can find stuff like this at IKEA and they, again, are popular for saving space in small living areas. Sometimes, they are called "built-ins" if they are actually part of the wall (and they often are), but they are falling out of favor in exchange for more portable things.
