Ah, dumb me, of course I could have asked google. I keep forgetting about that. Thank you for doing the work! I think probably all of the things Cisco names are “real” in the DC world. I read a lot in IMDB and there are people with greater knowledge who tell us where they stayed true to the comic universe and where they chose to stray from it. Also, in some cases like Diggle in “Arrow”, he is now in the official comics too. That’s quite an achievement.
I didn’t know that page with the scripts yet. I often search for scripts but hardly find any. Thanks for the link! I usually download subtitles as SRT files, which help me a lot in understanding the plots better.
I didn’t know Jesse L. Martin or Tom Cavanagh before, this is the first I see of them. My friend has recently become a huge TC fan and tells me all about the other stuff he has done and sends me links to interviews. But I have my hands so full with other guys at the moment, I can’t find time for yet another one ;) I’d be tempted though. I really liked how he was a father figure to Barry in the first season, and you liked him, and at the end of an episode they would remind you that he had another creepy side too. Then I forgot about that again when the next episode aired and he was nice again ;) Well done. And very interesting change in the second season now. Well played. I’d love to have a figure of Harrison Wells as himself.
What really draws me in is the whole family component to The Flash.
Yes, exactly! This is why I also liked “Lois & Clark” so much. I am not interested in villains and fights, I am interested in the characters and what being a super hero means for them and their relationships. This show gives me a warm fuzzy feeling, like “Call the midwife”, which is also highly recommended. And all the speeches they do, be it Joe or Barry or whoever, they are really touching. They could be too sweet, over the top, but they pull it off.

Wow, that’s a lot! In fact, “Arrow” also brought me back to writing. Before that I had a dry spell for years. I was very active in the “Stargate” universe many years ago, but aside from a few short things in “Doctor Who” or “Torchwood” I couldn’t really find something interesting to write about these. Then we came towards the end of season 1 of “Arrow” and they showed us promotion pictures from the semi-finale that would air in two weeks. It inspired me so much that I wrote how I thought it would play out just from what I knew from the pictures. They “spoke” to me. And I guess some of my action figure pictures are spoilerish as well.
Recently I started to write in the TOS universe. What can you do, when it hits you it hits you ;) Unfortunately usually late at night, 2 AM, when I am supposed to sleep. I get the best ideas then.
Everyone agrees that “Arrow” really came to its feet and became awesome in the middle of season 1, so you are right there. From there till the finale of that season it was really good and consistent. Unfortunately it is also true that in later seasons the plot became a bit too twisty and not always logical, and characters not everyone likes got pushed to the foreground while others suffer. I still like to watch it, but it is now much more of a comic show than it was at the beginning when they tried to find a “real” explanation for everything. This is what originally hooked me. The real world, ordinary people aspect. Now everyone’s a superhero. Makes Oliver stand out less.
Without John Barrowman, I would have never heard of this show. So I guess you know who my favorite character there is ;) And especially towards the end of season 1 he really impressed me. I had forgotten that I watched “my” John and only saw this poor suffering man. It’s not often that an actor can do that for me. He’s also now written an official Malcolm Merlyn comic. It’s great that he created another iconic character there after Captain Jack Harkness. Got him lots of new fans also.
