Well, that was the longest wait ever for a figure. But now the Dark Archer is in da house! As well as Deadshot, both are great figures with many nice details. Click the LJ cut to see them all!

Some thoughts:

Malcolm has the same green and yellow arrow like Oliver, I guess I'll have to paint it black ;) The ones in his quiver on the back are black.

I am surprised about their elbows. Oliver in green Arrow suit had joints that were able to move up and down as well as turn around. Now both the Dark Archer and Deadshot have a joint in their right arm which moves up and down and in their left are one that only turns. Which means that the left arm cannot bend and is always stretched out. Deadshot can't even hold his weapon with both hands properly?

Malcolm also can't hold the scimitar I made in his right hand, I had to give it to his left for the fight. I took pictures of him sharpening it, but they are not quite like what we saw on TV. But in the fight picture, you can even see the sharp edge of the blade glinting in the sun. Because I did sharpen it indeed as well. Cool!

Also, I never noticed the golden detail on his boots? There are many layers at this figure, it is seriously cool and well done. Go grab them, it's money well spent!

In October we'll get Diggle and Felicity and Roy, I will have a nice collection soon. Also on their way yet are Oliver as Arrow.2 and the Flash.

They are! I am so happy I finally got them. When was this announced, a year ago?

Did you get one as well? I seem to remember you saying running out of money or space or something? I can't wait till I'll start proper action figure theatre with them. Althoug the poses are limited.

I can't sit them down, if I bend Deadshot's legs forwards or backwards too much, the straps on his thighs might break? They bend a little, but not that much. And the Dark Archer has his coat in the way, so the legs don't move much either.

Also, I never really got the hang of the double jointed knees? Seems if I bend them I always only bend one. Am I supposed to bend both at the same time?

No, I'm not the one with money or space problems, I just don't buy that kind of stuff. But I do think they are lovely.

Too bad they are not very flexibles. Maybe they are mostly meant to be collectible than playable toys.

No, sadly it doesn't. But recently John Barrowman was talking about a Dark Archer figure with Merlyn's head. No idea whether he just made that up or wished for it or whether it's something they are indeed discussing and maybe planning as a variant for next time. That would be awesome of course!

But I am still happy that I have him. I had wished for him in the first wave already, so that is two years of waiting now.

I didn't even know they were releasing a Deadshot figure! (Geez, where have I been? Lol! ;) )

They both look fantastic, though that's truly odd about their one arm not having the proper elbow joint. :S I've never understood the thinking behind things like that, honestly. Unless there's some really good reason to force one arm to stay straight, you lose SO much in terms of poses and situations you can put them into. :S

Regardless, they still look awesome and Malcolm looks AMAZING with his scimitar! *applause* So glad that you got them already! Thanks so much for the pictures! :D ♥♥♥

Don't worry, that Deadshot came out of left field! I have the pictures someone took at a Comic con with all figures but he was not included there nor mentioned in all the official posts back then. Only a while later I saw him suddenly added.

If you think, last year we only got two figures. Must have sold well that they chuck out so many this year! Awesome! And he looks so, so great. Too bad that apparently because of the movie they can't use him in the series anymore :( He was one of my favourite characteres.

I just wanted to let you know about the elbow joint, not that you try to turn it the wrong way and break it. I saw that there was a joint but I also saw it could not be turned, so it took a while for me to realize the reason.

I can kinda understand the straight arm with Malcolm, as that's the one he is holding the bow with (although someone informed me the bow was the wrong way around). But with Deadshot?

Also sadly both cannot sit down with their legs bent forward. Deadshot has things on his thighs which I am afraid might break off if they bend too much, and the Dark Archer has his coat in the way. Same like Jack Harkness with coat ;) I had to take the picture of Malcolm sharpening his scimitar with him standing. When you take only a close up of the table surface, the difference is not seen. Check out today's post ;) http://dieastra.livejournal.com/133477.html

Of course, a fan is never satisfied. Now I want a Dark Archer with the hood down and Malcolm's face ;) John talked about this a while ago but I'm not sure whether it was wishful thinking or something in the works for next wave. A Thea would be also nice! Malcolm-Thea-battles? Awwww!

Next wave will have Diggle, Felicity and Roy. I will then re-do my salmon ladder pictures with Felicity watching. Muhaha.

Oops, it turned out I spoke too soon. The elbows do indeed turn up and down as well as around, like the Arrow ones. I just didn't try properly. I ordered another Dark Archer for a friend and this one is much more loose. I am sorry for doubting the production company!

While he still can't hold his bow right in front of him, it is a bit better than before:

He even can kneel now, the knees are double jointed but I never managed to make them move enough with the other figure. Now I only need a Ra's al Ghul ;)

Thank you ;)
I was so envious when John Barrowman showed his figure some weeks ago.

I'm catching up a little here, sorry I got so far behind! :(

Anyway, that's very true about us only getting two figures before so hopefully the fact we're getting more now means that they've done well and hopefully there will be even more in the future! *fingers crossed*

I'd definitely love a Thea, too! And I'm most certainly with you: I REALLY hope they'll do a Dark Archer with his hood down so we can see his face! *fingers crossed even more* :D

That's a bummer that Deadshot and Malcolm can't sit down. It always makes me feel slightly depressed that they're going to have to spend the rest of their lives standing up (or lying down), lol! ;)

Ooo, that will be great when you are able to redo your salmon ladder pics with Felicity watching! :D

I know I'm a broken record by this point but I still really do intend to post my pictures one day. Maybe when I get Barry, he'll inspire me to finish up my picspam... in a Flash, lol! ;) *groans at terrible pun* ;) ♥♥♥

Hiya! No worries!
I just wanted to add - I thought I had already, but better safe than sorry - that I have a new Dark Archer now and it turned out that both his (and also Deadshot's) elbows are indeed moving into all directions! So please forget what I wrote above about the stiff arm. He still cannot aim straight ahead, but it is better than before.

I had ordered one for a friend and this one's joints moved much better, also the knees. So we swapped, as she does not intend to do any poses. So when you get yours, move all the joints carefully, the elbows should both turn around and also go up and down. Really amazing.

If you want to get the bow into his hand, you can open up the fingers and the thumb a bit. Someone also made me a picture so I would know which is the handle he has to hold in his hand:

Oh, that's really great of your friend to swap like that! And I'm happy to know that he's got a lot more movement than it first seemed. That's always so odd when they end up giving a figure very limited articulation. :S

Thanks also for the up close pic of his bow and which thing is which. That's always weirdly frustrating when you can't figure out which way the accessories are supposed to go! o_O So that's great to have a reference! :D ♥♥♥

Love the detail they've gone to with the figures! I adore how the blade glints in the sunlight too, it helps add atmospherics and reality to your scene etc. I can't say I'd ever noticed the golden tips or detail in his boots on screen, makes me wanna go back and watch some eppies now. Thanks for sharing such detailed shots of the figures, they look awesomely good!

A friend of mine who is doing cosplay says the boots should be actually silver, not golden. Apparently they are motorcycle boots.

I absolutely adore those figures, all the attention to detail. If you are an Arrow fan, you should consider getting some! Also, they are at the same size like the Stargate figures. I am considering a cross-over... Any ideas?

I agree, the details on the figures are great. I look forward to seeing a cross-over with SG, so far I have no ideas to pass on but I'll be sure to ponder and let you know if I come up with any.
