Yeah, basically. This is one of the things of my flail post and what I am waiting to pre-order. And then it will take at least another half year to actually get.

I've avoided posting pictures of Jack so far (these are from a convention last November) as some of us felt that the face was a bit off. I have to agree, I don't see quite John Barrowman in there yet, and the reason is that they usually go for a neutral expression with their figures, so they can be used for more scenes. Just a little smirk would do wonders to him. They also said though that they are still working on the head and it was barely ready for the con. So I am confident that by the time it is finished, we will be blown away as usual. Also the actors are always hugely involved and it is only done with their approval.

Aside from all this, what also threw me, how young he looks! But of course it has been ten years already and unfortunately John is not a never aging immortal (although you wouldn't believe he is approaching 50 either)

From day one, when I ordered that first Eleventh Doctor, it was my biggest wish to get a Jack and I actually wrote it into the comments section.

More pictures of other planned figures (War Doctor, Eight Doctor, Rose, Ninth Doctor, Clara, Tenth Doctor in pyjama) here: Upcoming Big Chief Studios Figures

Oh, he's awesome! But half a year to get it? :-/

And yeah, the face is too young and narrow. Maybe the jaw isn't square enough, too. But still awesome.

Hope you have a good day!

Well, here is how it works. They make a prototype. A lot of work goes into that until it’s right. When they are finished, they put them up for pre-order. At the same time they start production in China. But of course it takes time making 1000 or 2000 of these figures. Sewing all the clothes and stuff. And also the shipping from China to the UK takes another one or two months actually.

It’s good though because that means they have payment plans. I don’t have to pay the 180 GBP right away. I did so in the beginning but now I only pay about 18-20 GBP per month which is more affordable (of course sometimes I have three figures on pre-order at the same time so… ;) ) And when it is paid up, the time is also up and you get him.

The hardest waiting is when others already have theirs and post pictures but you are still waiting. The next thing that will arrive in May is the Ninth Doctor and the TARDIS. In March people got the other TARDIS, the Eleventh Doctor one, and that was an exciting time in our group. That thing is huge! And heavy. I hope they never make an inside console. I don’t have the space for that.

Jack WAS young at the time. We just don’t remember because we saw John Barrowman age ;) I have another close-up picture and I think the eyes are somehow off as well. Still, beautiful clothes. That coat! Even though I kinda made my own Jack (have you seen him? He’s on the customizing list) this one is so much better.

I look so forward to him! But that will be a long wait, he's not even up for pre-order yet. Hurry up!

So far all their figures have been great, so I am confident! I'll make sure to update in here once the official pictures are out.

Big Chief Studios really does an impressive job!!!

I can imagine all the fun you're going to have once you get this one.

Maybe then you can do pics of where Jack meets his double from an alternate reality ;)

Yes, I am a huge Big Chief Studios fan! They are fans themselves, and have fun in what they do, and they listen to their customers and also don't rip them off money-wise.

Maybe then you can do pics of where Jack meets his double from an alternate reality ;)

Something like that, yeah! Will be hard to keep it family friendly though. I mean, the one person knowing what Jack Harkness likes is Jack Harkness himself ;) I actually read a fanfiction once with that theme. There was time travel involved. And one time Jack experienced the sex as his younger self, and then later it was his older self, going back and seeing it from the other point of view. It was a very nice story actually.

He looks like his son in a cosplay :) Or is it only me?

Haha! That's what I am always saying about this Dark Archer figure: http://media.popcultcha.com.au/media/catalog/product/a/r/arrowdarkarrowreaction.png

I really don't get what the deal is with those retro action figures. They look awfully bad. Compare it to my Dark Archer: http://pop-critica.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/dc-collectibles-arrow-series-dark-archer-figure-24.jpg

So much better! So yeah, if I ever buy that other one, I will pretend it is his son, dressing up (it is also smaller so that would work)

However, if we go back to watch those first Doctor Who episodes with Jack, he WAS that young! It's just that we have gotten older in the past 10 years ;) I'm also always blown away how young David Tennant looks in that first Christmas episode. Those four Doctor Who years have aged him, all the late night filming probably. And that awful lot of running.

I'm sure the finished figure will look great though. This picture was just done by a fan, through glass, so it is really hard to judge.

I know! It's almost like it isn't him :) I'm used to his look in Torchwood, or Doctor Who season 3. It's been two years between DW season 1 and 3 but you can tell the difference, it's also the make up.

I'm also always blown away how young David Tennant looks in that first Christmas episode.
He looks different without his sticky-uppy hair, and he has different make up - they covered his freckles in later episodes.
Every Doctor changes during his years - I swear, Matt Smith looks 11 when he starts, and in season seven, his Doctor is so, so old. Peter Capaldi looks different with a new haircut, and now in season 8, he looks... incomplete. I'm sure it would be the same with Eccleston if he stayed longer.

I'm sure the finished figure will look great though.
For this price, it has to :)

Yes, the Utopia Jack will always be the Jack I think of first. The way he lays on the ground and saying to Martha "Captain Jack Harkness and who are you" and the whole "Can't I say hello to anyone?" that followed is what describes him best ;)

Actually I meant David Tennant's crawfeet at the eyes, which were much more pronounced at the fourth season.

You are right about Matt Smith. When he got announced as the new Doctor I also thought he was a baby ;) But I think they did good when they cast him, as he really was an old soul in a young body. His eyes could look very old sometimes. He played that time traveller of 900 years age very well.

The way I will be happy to finally have an official Jack I probably will overlook any minor details ;) I am not that nitpicky to be honest. Just get him up for pre-order and be done with it. But I guess it is a good sign that he is not up yet, as that means more time for working on him.

At the moment you can order Clara (passing on her) and the War Doctor will be next I hear. I wonder if I should get Rose. I am not too fond of her face either. What do you think? (The pictures are all in the link)

Well, there's that story with him being a Time Agent in season 1 of Doctor Who, with two years of memory lost, but it's never brought up again. It seems to be Steven Moffat's idea no one else wanted to develop, neither in Doctor Who and Torchwood.

I'm still not sure about Matt's first season. I think he might have been even better Doctor if he was cast few years later, when he was more experienced. But it's the past now. I like his acting most in season 7.

What do you think?
It would be easier to look if there was a close-up on her but she doesn't look bad, actually.

Oh dear, imo thats awful. So, so disappointed. The coat isn't all that accurate either sadly.

Maybe writing them and giving a bit of feedback wouldn't go amiss?

They know. Some are members of our FB group where the discussion sometimes is very heated. That's how I know that they are still working on it.

We shouldn't give too much on that picture, which was taken through glass, and is an awful quality in itself. That's why I had hesitated so far to post it to not give people false impressions. Let's wait for the official pictures and even then usually people find something to complain about. For some reason, these figures are very difficult to photograph properly, so much depends on lighting and angle, but once people have them in their hands everything is forgotten and everyone is excited. I know the circle, I have witnessed it a few times already ;) So I am confident.

And I will buy him in any case. Remember, this is how we became friends, I somehow had seen that post of yours with those selfmade Jack and also Captain John figures. Ever since it was my wish to have one. And this will be my only chance as no other company has the Doctor Who licence. I think Big Chief does good work and they also really listen to their customers and try to make whatever possible. They even gave a second Amy head with sculpted hair for free when everyone was not happy with the rooted hair.

So far we only discussed the face though. What is there not accurate about the coat? I never really pay attention to such details, so I truly don't know. A problem we have with all figures - also the Doctors, which have a shirt and a jacket AND a coat - the layers add up and it is very hard to dress them properly with not bulking up at the shoulders. I mostly leave the coat off for that reason.
