My first time of acrylic painting! I finally did something with the paints I bought ages ago! This picture is a bit naive but it was mainly done to learn different techniques how to apply the paint.

For the background I mixed light and dark blue with black, scooped it up with the brush and drew straight lines, letting the colors mingle. The snow in the foreground was dotted on. I wanted to spray the stars but it didn't work as intended. The trees in the background are done with a dry brush.

For the big tree I put green, black and white right onto the paper and then mixed it on there. I loved that effect.
I guess what I really need to learn is when to leave a painting well alone and declare it done. It's very easy to overdo. I probably shouldn't have added the lights but it was the image I had in my head so it had to be done.

Anyway, I had a very relaxing morning.

Thank you! It was a real fun thing to do! I have all these paints and stuff but never do anything with them. All my creativity goes into the figures.

It's really good. I'd buy that if it was on a Christmas card, I like it that much!

Wow, that is high praise! Thank you!
Maybe I should do a Red Bubble account? Someone I know that does cute pictures with teddybears recently did one, and you can get his pictures on cards, shirts, calendars, mugs and lots of other things.

Here they are, aren't they cute? It's why I bought the same bear even! https://www.redbubble.com/de/people/deanus/collections/998683-deano-bears

I never looked into it as I think I might not be allowed to do it with the figures since they are under copyright, but I could do it with my original art.

I shall come back to you on that! It's too late for this year anyway but maybe next year?

I've got a Zazzle store (links for various countries via my website) for my digital artwork/photograph designs, though I think Red Bubble might be slightly better known.

Anyway, if you decide to do this, let me know!

EDIT: I don't think you can do the action figures on there due to copyright, like you've said, but you could always check with the site you go with to be sure.

I really like the way the snow "texture" came out!

Thank you very much! For some reason, the snow looks much better in this photograph of the painting, than it did close-up when I was painting. How's that?

I guess you need a certain distance for it to work properly. Sometimes when I am in a painting gallery, I go very closely to the paintings, to see "how they did it". But when you are too close, all you see are brush strokes and colors. It only comes together looking at it from far away.

For the first time! What an amazing, lovely and shining picture.
And I agree - it would make a beautiful, atmospheric Christmas card!
Would you try to draw a New Year picture too?

Thank you very much!
Not sure what one could put on a New Year's picture? I have no ideas right now and it's too late anyway ;) I definitely plan to do more painting though when an idea strikes!

Edit: Ah, I wanted to thank you for the New Year's Card! Have you heard that Sydney had the wrong number though? They wrote 2018 LOL

Well, to tell the truth, probably both the decorated ones? The natural one is really beautiful but I suppose people do mind those typical Christmas decorations. Or...well, I would (if I was able to draw!)add some animals to the tree - any cute ones, or birds! This I would buy DEFINITELY!!!!
