Customizing: Biobed and Seska

The jacket wasn't the only crafting I did that weekend.

I customized the Triple Fiction Productions biobed.
I didn't really like the brown cover and for a long time searched for a fitting grey mesh. This still is not perfect but will do. It is a rubberband used for skirts.
I also made pillows. They have the round and sometimes also a triangle pillow. I cut out the forms from styrofoam. This seemed like a good idea but then it melted due to the glue - oops! ;) Remember to always use acid free glue.





I also noticed that the Seska figure does not have exactly the colors that she has on TV, especially the fur bits on her shoulders were painted lilac instead of grey. So I have tried to give her some proper colors. It's not easy to mix the right tone, I think the red on the arms is still not right but then the lighting in that scene is also odd.

The grey covering and pillows look much better! The coloring blends well with the frame and doesn't draw attention away from the characters like the rusty brown did.

Seska also is improved. You've been able to bring out details missing from the factory version. Nicely done! As for the arms, it looks like Seska's arms are more pink than red. Perhaps add some white to your red paint?

I think the guy doing these does intentionally a few differences in the layout, for copyright reasons / plagiarism. But I would want it to look exactly like the original of course.

I think it is the odd bright lighting that makes her arms look pink in this picture. I need to look for a different picture from another episode where she wears the same outfit to make sure to get the right tone.

Yeah, I figured there was no way I would be able to sew them in this small size, so that's how I came up with the styrofoam.

The bed is surely more comfortable with the pillows, your characters will thank you for them :)

Yes, the are thanking me LOL!
Although I am not sure how comfortable they really are. I have some cloth from another biobed and it is rather scratchy material. Also there are cards with uniform pieces available as merchandise and some of these also feel scratchy to the touch.
Maybe it's to make them more sturdy and last longer?
