I'm so excited

dieastra... and I just can't hide it...
I rarely fill out the music field when posting but this one is very fitting today ;)
Two days ago I bought a ticket for the concert tour of John Barrowman in October. In Cardiff, of course. Now I have "fun" trying to actually find a plane over there.
And for those that don't know who John Barrowman is (are there any out there?) I first got to know him as Captain Jack Harkness in "Dr. Who". Later he got his own series, "Torchwood". But prior to that he already had been a big star at the London West End, played the leading role in several musicals, and he also has done a lot of TV shows in the BBC. One where he fulfills wishes of people who want to perform on stage once, and he also searched for new musical stars together with Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Just put in the name "John Barrowman" at youtube and you will be bombarded with thousands of links showing his many sides of an entertainer, be it singing, dancing, ice-dancing or playing the flute. I hadn't expected there are still such old fashioned entertainers out there. That's what blew me away. And his great voice, of course.
I like that he always gives 100 percent and more when performing, you can see that he just loves what he is doing and his own dream as a boy came true. On top of that he is a very likeable person with a great personality (and a great laugh). Goodlooking as well, and a lot of women in this world regret he's gay. Oh well, can't have everything ;) He and his partner Scott seem to be made for each other.
It also proves that you can be open about your sexuality and still have a career in the showbusiness. And two days ago he has flown to Los Angeles to guest star in "Desperate Housewives". I'm very excited about that as well and can't wait to see it. Seems John and me are the only ones that do like Bree ;)

Date: 2010-08-03 08:30 am (UTC)Also wkw ist die Abkürzung von wer-kennt-wen das ist so was ähnliches wie studiVZ. Da kann man dann Gruppen bilden und sich über alles mögliche austauschen.
Und da ich zwecks John wohl immer verrückter werde (hab seine 2 Bücher gelesen - auf englisch, da es wohl kaum eine deutsche Übersetzung geben wird-, hab natürlich die Torchwood-DVDs (bin ein absoluter "Woodie" - wie John die Torchwood-Fans nennt), sehr viele CDs, natürlich die "an evening with"-DVD und ich fliege nach Cardiff um ihn live on stage und natürlich auch Cardiff als Torchwood-Drehort zu sehen....
Na ja lange Rede kurzer Sinn...
ich suche regelmäßig nach Neuigkeiten und bin dabei mit Suchbegriffen wie John Barrowman oder Torchwood über Deinen Beitrag (I´m so excited..." gestolpert...Die Bilder hab ich erst danach gesehen und find sie total witzig. Woher hast Du die Figuren denn? Ich denke in Cardiff in dem Dr. Who "Museum" gibt´s die zu kaufen. Ich muss mich da mal eindecken.
Ich kann´s übrigens kaum erwarten die John-Folgen von Desperate Housewifes zu sehen. Hoffentlich laufen die bald bei uns.

Date: 2010-10-10 09:55 pm (UTC)Heh, das ist ja interessant, wie Du mich gefunden hast. Die Bücher hab ich natürlich auch und sämtliche CDs und DVDs. Guckst Du auch "Doctor Who"? Da spielt Jack ja auch ein paarmal mit. Vor vielen Jahren hatte mir das schon mal eine Freundin gezeigt, aber zum JB Fan bin ich erst geworden, als ich sah, dass er auch singt. Hätte ich schon viel eher haben können und zu Konzerten oder "La Cage aux Folles" fahren können. Naja, besser spät als nie!
Aber mittlerweile haben sie mich auch zum David Tennant Fan gemacht. Ist schon ein toller Schauspieler.
Meine Figuren hab ich alle im Internet gekauft, manchmal gibt es Schnäppchen beim englischen ebay. Aber für den Dr. Who Shop werde ich mich auch mit Geld eindecken! Ich werde meine Figuren auch mit nach Cardiff nehmen und Fotos an original Locations machen! Das haben wir im August mit den Stargate-Figuren in Vancouver gemacht, keine Ahnung, ob Du die Fotos auch gesehen hast. Ich war dort auf einer Convention mit Richard Dean "MacGyver" "O'Neill" Anderson.
Na, dann wünsche ich Dir, dass mit dem Flug alles klar geht, und dass sie auch unsere Karten an der Rezeption herausrücken, sonst hören sie aber von mir! LOL
Vielleicht sehen wir uns ja da auch schon, so viele können da ja nicht sein.

Date: 2010-10-12 06:04 am (UTC)den Block kann ich Dir net sagen, aber wenn ich nach den Sitzen gehe und die mit Deinen Plätzen vergleiche, dann wohl aussen: Reihe M Plätze 11 und 12. Ich hoffe ich seh´ihn trotzdem!
Mit Doctor Who hab ich mich noch nicht so befasst, läuft ja bei uns auch nicht - schade. Aber vielleicht bestell ich mir ja mal die Staffeln mit John (kann man da einfach so einsteigen oder versteht man nichts, wenn man die Anfänge nicht kennt?).
Ich hab die John Recherche leider erst nach seiner letzten Konzerttour gestartet, sonst hätt ich ihn auch schon früher sehen können. Bin schon ganz aufgeregt.
Stargate hab ich auch verschlungen, muss mal Deine Bilder angucken.
Wegen dem Fliegen: Es gibt doch schlimmeres als über Amsterdam zu fliegen. Wird schon schiefgehen.
Wenn die uns die Karten net geben, dann mach ich nen Aufstand.
Also wenn ich´s richtig verstanden hab, dann ab 19:00 an der "Rezeption" - wir sehen uns!
