Back home from London and Glasgow, lots of stories to tell – the weekend was full with fireworks at the Thames, David Tennant and John Barrowman on stage, and watching “Sherlock” in TV. What a week.

We arrived in Glasgow on Wednesday, January the 1st. No panto show today, but I still had a fun evening, watching the first episode of season 3 of “Sherlock” together with friends in our hotel room, and laughing and crying and being touched and shouting: “No way!” and all of it several times. It was great! Well worth the wait of two years.

In Glasgow we also were greeted by these signs:

On Thursday at noon we went to the stage door but John took his time to arrive, and the group of people got bigger and bigger. I was afraid he would just go straight in, as it was getting late, but we still all got our autographs and pictures after he arrived. In a new car nobody recognized so nobody believed me when I said “that’s him” – I had just recognized the rather fast driving style LOL

I hadn’t really planned to, but as it happened, I stood in the front right where he started, so I was first. Oh my. I had the picture I did for the panto calendar boxes and a silver pen ready and our conversation was very deep: “This pen isn’t working.” – “Just sign it anyway.” D’oh! LOL

He did his best:

I told him it was my picture for the boxes, but since there were so many fans, there was not much time to explain anything about the picture in further detail, but he’ll see it once he has emptied all his boxes and turns them around to see the other pics. I also gave him a printed copy of my action figure story where little John and Scott have little cubes .

And I asked if he had come to my gift already, the German car but he said no and “Don’t spoiler it!” Ah well, that didn’t go so well then, did it? Well, still many more days and evenings and shows to go to be able to try again.

This is my picture from that first afternoon:

More to come later!

Thank you!

Soon though! Wasn't it January 19th? You'll love it. Just don't spoiler yourself before.

Yep, it's January 19. I can't wait! (And I'm trying very hard not to be spoiled.)

Oh, poor you, that did't go so well indeed.
But a very nice picture! The woman in the back dosen't seem to be interested in John being there *giggle*
But to recognice him by his driving was quite a laugh! After seeing the fiveish doctors I can imagin why. Did he sing in the show?

I'm Sherlocked in the moment and I am very thankfull to be able to watch it on BBC online. After seeing the second episode yesterday I agree it was worth waiting for!

The woman in the back is one of the officials, always guarding John (not that it was necessary, the fans are all very behaved, as we know everyone gets his chance, so no need for pushing), so yeah, she has seen enough of him already obviously LOL

We had seen several other cars approach and this one was considerably faster ;)

Yes, a pantomime is like a musical. Lots of singing and dancing and sparkle costumes! It's one of the best parts for me, I saw it four times but never would get tired of seeing John doing what he likes most. It is a family show, also lots of slapstick humor for the children and some double meanings for the parents. Lots of interaction with the audience. I am writing a detailed report at the moment with everything included, might take a while yet. In the meantime, if you like, you can read my report from last year to get an idea about it all: http://dieastra.livejournal.com/51706.html

I am Sherlocked as well but on Sunday already will be the last episode and then another wait for two years ;) It's just such a long time.

Thank you!
Do you want to join us for next year? The Krankies and John already are announced to be back, and the ticket sale started in December.

That would be great, I just have to check that I am not in any productions or doing extra work in any movies at the time.

Surely you have some time off between Christmas and New Year's eve?
Only on Christmas day and New Year's day are no performances. I am going at the last weekend again, as the last matinee is especially funny.

Woot! What a great beginning to what was undoubtedly a unforgetable vacation. That picture of you and John is adorable. I lol'd at how you recognized his car from his fast driving. I guess that's another aspect of his personality that carried over into the character of Jack Harkness!

I'm looking forward to reading your reports and seeing your pics. You always make it feel like I'm there!

I confess I'm jealous that you got to see "Sherlock" when it aired. We were SO MAD when we realized BBC America wasn't airing it the same day as the UK (like it does Doctor Who), but that PBS had picked it up and was waiting almost three weeks. WTH???

Oh yes, he loves cars and speed. When I have time again, I will resume my comparison of him and Richard Dean Anderson. They have so much in common. Rick also has done a bit of car racing.

Second (short) part of Thursday evening is up! I thought it would be best to go day by day, like a diary.

Those three weeks will be over soon. Just try to not get spoiled in the meantime. That is the biggest problem now with the internet. I hope all your friends behave. I will not write anything detailed about it, as I need to watch it again with subtitles anyway.

I have no idea when it will come to Germany, last time they had to wait till May.

I definitely did! I haven't run out of stories to tell yet, bear with me ;)

I know it can be a bit hard to see all the excitement for those that had not the opportunity to come themselves, but on the other hand, I hope I can share a bit of my experience with everyone and making you feel as if you have seen it as well.

I don't mind - I have a photo from the one time I met him so that keeps me going. Plus I have zero desire to leave the southern hemisphere at this time of year, lol

Where and when did you have your chance to meet him?

And yeah, I don't think the Glaswegian weather would have agreed with you LOL It was raining like madly and also stormy. My umbrella did not survive.

Wow, that's special. There usually is not much at tours - a few autographs when he arrives, but after he has to leave immediately to go to the next city, so you were really lucky there!

I'm actually surprised he does the pantomime stage door again, a few years ago I remember reading that he would not as to not get ill, standing in the cold for so long.

But he just loves the interaction with his fans.
