part 1 was here

It seems that I got some of the technical terms wrong in my last entry? I had asked a dictionary and it told me to use "Defence" and "Striker", but a special soccer page now tells me it should be "back/fullback" and "forward" instead?

Okay, here are the new pictures - let's play soccer!

(Note: the whistle is from my Baywatch Ken, so a bit big for Jack, but still, I was happy to have even a whistle!)

(Note: As soon as I lift one of their legs to do a pose of running or shooting, they are not able to stand anymore and fall over. So I grabbed him by the head with one hand to stabilize him while I was taking the picture with the other hand)

Ha, ha! That was really good. You had me from the moment I saw the "fans". :)

I'm no soccer expert--my experience is limited to playing the game in gym class when I was a kid-- but "back/fullback" and "forward" sound correct. (A quick check with Professor Google confirms this). Interestingly, in the US, the person at the goal a "goalie" not a "keeper", so I originally thought the maybe terms you used might be more European-based.

LOL, can you tell I'm not following the World Cup either? :-p

I'm not sure if you also saw part 1, with the preparations and the female power team and the sheep? In that, I also had the whole team like they are in the newspapers, with picture and description, and it was hard work so I am not really sure I want to re-do it all again just for the other terms :( I should have checked at the right page back then, but thought the dictionary would know too. My bad. It's really difficult with so specific terms.

But yeah, since we are at the space cup, why should the terms not be different! That's my explanation and I'll stick with it LOL

I don't need to watch the game at all, whenever Germany is winning, I get fireworks in front of my balcony ;) Sorry for the USA, but from what I hear they were quite good and a lot of new fans around the states were watching, next time they might be even better. No wonder, they have our former trainer ;) That was interesting, when we played against ourself, so to speak.

Well you might be confusing soccer terms and football terms--which for every country besides the US, soccer is called football--I know, very confusing, right? But the BF, who is British and a HUGE striker fan would say defense and striker--FWIW. :-)

Fun set of pix--wasn't sure Thor was going to make it, though!

Oooh thank you! That eases my mind! So not completely wrong, then.

I used http://www.dict.cc/ which I always use, I put in the German word and took the English one they offered. But since defence is such a word that is used in a lot of context, I wasn't sure whether it was also right in the soccer context. And today by accident I came onto a page that translated specific soccer terms from German to English, and this one suddenly had the other ones. Ah well, as long as it is not completely uncomprehensible, I am fine with it.

LOL he did, thankfully ;)

Red card! Red card!

I know nothing about the game but remember someone in Harry Potter yelling that during one of their Quidditch matches and being told that was soccer. LOL

Forgot to say-- this is inspired!

LOL I know nothing either, but I believe you get a yellow first and if you do it again, a red one. If they gave out reds with every foul there is, the playing ground would soon be empty LOL

Thank you!

I don't know the technical terms either (I'm not following any sports of any kind at the moment) but I know I thoroughly enjoyed this game! So suspenseful!!! O_O

Hee, I loved the celebration moment (though I was worried about poor Thor all the same, lol ;) ) and then oh noes, Rodney, fouling Teal'c like that! *tsk-tsks* ;)

Can't wait to see how it's all going to turn out! :D ♥♥♥

Someone reassured me that they are not exactly wrong, so I'll leave it now.

Glad you liked it ;) I figured I would let the guys that you don't usually think of, do some of the important stuff.

Well, if I knew how it's going to turn out, I'd done the pictures two weeks ago LOL To be honest, I have no idea. I know I want to use the female team as well, and technically each team would need to play against every other team, which would result in a lot of boring and similar pictures. I'm running out of ideas what they can do. I have to have let happen some of it offscreen and just show the winning. Of course the girls have to get the cup ;)

If you say it like that, I got the character spot on! While my thinking was more along the lines of having the nerdy guy overcome the huge muscular guy.

Same reason why I had little Thor of all people do the goal. I have a heart for the overlooked ones ;)
