I wanted to post some behind the scenes pictures for my story with Batman and Terminator and Cyberman and the Doctor

Because my kitchen looked very professional ;)

At first I used a stack of books to hold my "walls" up but now I have these greet bookends:

Doesn't the street look like something where they do animated movies? I mean seriously? I even have a street corner!

I made the windows simply with black paper and drew the window frame with crayon:

Same for the streets:

Thank you very much ;) I should do a post with pictures from each year, showing the progression! That would be fun?

Thank you! Someone said it looks like a set from Shaun the sheep. I may have been influenced there ;) I love that series.

That's a great hobby you have. thanks for sharing it. I've gotten some ideas for when I'm setting up my action figures soon. No copying but you've certainly kicked started my creativity.

Oh, don't be worried of copying! I am always very happy when I can inspire someone else to start with this hobby and I am certainly not the only one doing this in the world. You surely know that I sometimes reblog other people's post on Tumblr, but there is much much more out there. And everyone has their personal touch.

So go and have fun! And make sure to let me know about it! I'm looking forward to whatever you come up with.

And remember, you don't need to buy expensive dollhouse stuff. Just keep your eyes open for little things, they are everywhere. Fridge magnets, keyrings, Christmas tree decorations, the like. The world is a different place since I see it with miniature eyes ;)

SO cool! How did you make the brick walls?

The brick walls as well as other stuff like wooden fence, wooden floor, grass, sand, sky with clouds, sky with stars, a wall of books etc. I bought in a crafts shop. These are so cool!

I did a post back then here: http://dieastra.livejournal.com/125726.html

but have purchased many more since. They certainly come in handy! I have the bricks in different sizes even, for the big and for the small figures.

I can buy sheets of brick in 1:12 scale but it's a bit pricey. Oh well, I'll just have to save up! :)

Mine cost between 1 and 2 Euro, but having lots of them adds up, too. I had also thought about going to a model railway shop but I feared the scale would be too small. But I know railway stuff is also expensive.

Would it be cheaper searching for a picture and let it print in large size in a copy shop?

I always enjoy seeing some behind the scenes photos :) The street looks wonderful (the plane looked like something you can buy in a shop, I'm amazed it's just paper and crayon!) and by making the corner you made it look three-dimmensional. Very professional indeed.

I seriously was thinking about getting a street layout like they sell for kids, to play with their cars! But it usually has a lot of drawn houses on the side, which might made it look silly.

I mainly needed the corner to hide the battery for the lamp! But when I started to put this scene together in my head, I always imagined a corner. This is a first, all my other set ups just had a back and a side wall, like a room corner.

It's really interesting how good can things look from afar and when you come closer, you see what it is really like. Maybe I should not tell my tricks, like a magician ;)

I also do that when viewing paintings in a painting gallery. From afar, it is a perfect picture. Sometimes I get close as I want to see the brush strikes, and learn how the artist did certain things.

It's not like the trick is ruined when you know how it's done. For me, at least. Whether it's magic or art :) And if the method is simple, you can even appreciate it more and praise someone's creativity.

It's always interesting to see how people do set-ups for photo shoots and things. Thanks for sharing it.

You're very welcome, and thanks for commenting!
I also do like to customize figures and props, and I also show each step so people can do it as well if they like. My list of customized figures is here: http://dieastra.livejournal.com/40721.html
