This week's Arrow episode "Eleven-Fifty-Nine" had a magic idol that can give a bad guy bad powers. And they kept it right where he would be able to find and steal it. Here is my idea how the whole thing could have gone differently!
Indy must have been surprised he didn't have to fight with anyone to get the precious item :) I always loved his line about the museum because he believes anyone should have an opportunity to see those ancient and priceless things but I wondered how many people (apart other archeologists) were actually interested in seeing them :) The Holy Graal would surely be a sensation but some others, I'm not sure.
The salmon ladder is back! Now that's a reason to come to the place alone :)
I'm sorry for your fandom loss, then. It's "only" a tv show but such things can actually make you sad for a while. I'm sure your attempt to lighten the mood will be appreciated :)
Other people write fanfictions if they are not happy with a TV series - I do action figure comics ;) I also plan something about the weird way Malcolm kidnapped William. Something does not add up there.
I just thought we all could need the laugh after this week's episode!
So, what did you think? I think it was a good gripping episode.
Now you can also understand why I had to make the story with them giving the idol to Indiana Jones: http://dieastra.livejournal.com/195493.html
It was a bit odd that they put the idol together again. They should have left it in pieces. I also wondered why nobody mentioned Malcolm's hand but John Barrowman said it will be revealed yet.
Did you miss it entirely or will you be able to watch it later? I know you have other things to worry about right now, but I think it is an important episode and you would want to know who is in the grave of course. Especially since next season will have the funeral.
Well, I am sure the episode will be repeated, they do it several times, again and again - sometimes it is really annoying but at least one can catch up with what had been missed.:_)
I love this....I was thinking during that episode that Indiana (one of my fav characters) would not approve. I can't believe they kept the idol in their lair which is not a secret so much anymore. And when they found out Merlin took it to Dark why didn't Oliver ask Diggle to retrieve the crystal and then he go and hide it. Sometimes they do really stupid things that I don't buy any their characters doing...not sure what the writers were thinking when they wrote that part. I wonder sometimes if the Arrow writers think the audience is stupid as well. Also when Dark saw the his own blood on his hands it was as if he suddenly realize the Idol needed a sacrifice of blood (watch his face and what he says in the episode) which I'm pretty sure Dark would have already known since he had the idol for ages and it gave him his power previously. Just some thoughts....
Yeah, I've given up trying to make sense of that show. It used to be so good in season 1. I still watch for the fun, but you can't take some things serious anymore. Malcolm is changing his mind every episode for whom he works. Last time he was threatening Darhk.
Also nobody mentioned his new hand? Seems as if the writers forgot about that?
They did not only keep the idol, they actually put it together again after it had been shattered to pieces! It does indeed not make sense. I wonder if the writer of one week does not check what the writer of another week wrote? There is no consistency in characters and actions. It is quite sad. Neal is so good as the bad guy though. I first saw him in Desperate Houswives.
Seeing that idol of course my mind first went to Indiana Jones. How awesome that I recently got these 7" figures! I couldn't have done it with my small 3,75" one. He also brought the idol with him. Did you see them when I bought them? Lots of great accessories: http://dieastra.livejournal.com/171089.html
It's been a while since I watched the movies, but if you have any wishes/ideas, let me know!
I have only space for 15 icons, so no Indy icon, but some other guy with hat LOL
I think I missed that Indy post. The accessories are amazing!!!
I agree Arrow is just fun to watch and not take seriously! I'm guessing the writers don't talk to each other or they just think no one will notice. I completely forgot the idol shattered & Merlyn's new hand as well to be honest. Yes Neal does a great job of being evil. Too bad they killed off the Laurel Lance character. I used to hate her but then she got better these past few episodes...oh well (Proof of inconsistent writing.)
The Last Crusade is my favourite Indy movie so anything you do with that would be fun!
Use my Indy icon instead if you like...swap it with the one you have of the guy in the hat! :)
I am sure Daniel Jackson would also enjoy a few of them. I love especially the background, the stones. Apparently these were only sold at Disney land, so very rare and hard to find. I was very lucky that I found both of them together. Since buying them I've re-watched the first movie but need to watch the other two yet. Getting the DVDs from the library to watch in English. It was fun in the first with all the German lines. You don't have that when everything is dubbed. I still regret that many years ago I did not buy that package with the many colorful snakes. That would have been a fun scene ;)
I didn't like Laurel at all in the first season but she really has become good recently. Especially the talks with her Dad. Paul Blackthorne is also very good. I stayed away from all spoilers but when she said "One last time" I knew it was her. That's never a good line to say in TV!
I did like Felicity in the beginning when she was only a guest star and funny. But now she has become very annoying with all the relationship drama. And she barely opens her mouth when speaking, that annoys me too.
Oh no, not giving up Matt Bomer! When you are finished with Stargate, you NEED to watch White Collar. He is Neal Caffrey there and I'm pretty sure you will like it as well. He has great charm. Such an awesome show and also great fun and a great male friendship. Very short seasons, only 13 episodes per season. Highly recommended!
Ah yes Daniel...he's my favourite on SG-1 as he's the 'intellectual' one and into all the things I am lol.
I don't know why countries bother anymore with dubbing. It's a waste of time & money. You'd think it would be cheaper to just put subtitles instead.
Oh don't get me started on Felicity but you're bang on! No one I know likes her now compared to when she originally started.
They are running White Collar here on the Italian channel at 11pm. Due to the late time I don't watch it very often and my Italian is atrocious (as my Dad says) so I miss a lot of things. Subtitles would be helpful in this case lol.
At a German convention, Michael Shanks once asked why we have started to watch Stargate. Was it because of an interest for Egyptian mythology? Two hands raised up. Was it because of interest in sci-fi shows in general? Another two hands raised up.
In comical despair he asked: "So why did you start to watch Stargate?" And the whole room of 500 people, I kid you not, shouted as one: "RICHARD DEAN ANDERSON!!!"
Poor Michael ;)
Dubbing has a long tradition in Germany and I guess it would be hard to just stop doing it. People may complain? In Sweden and other countries everyone speaks English as they have subtitles. Our dubbing is good though, not like in Poland where it is only one voice doing all characters. The actors really try to match the original. We also get more and more original language movies now. But you have to look for them.
Okay, that is probably not the best way to watch White Collar ;) I hope you'll get another chance one day. It's really worth it.
I guess I have to thank RDA as it was through him and Stargate that I became a sci-fi fan. I certainly wasn't one before. And I definitely know more Egyptian gods now than I did before, so never say TV isn't educating!
I have a friend who also studied Egyptian and was able to read hieroglyphs. We visited the British museum in London and my other friend and I already were three rooms further while she still was in the first, trying to read everything LOL But she really could translate us some stuff, which was pretty cool.
Do you know that in one of the Asterix movies in the hierogplyphs it says "If you can read that, you are an Egyptologist" LOL
Idol threats?

Finally Malcolm has the cave for himself. It's always so crowded LOL
This week's episode had a favorite character dying and it is an outrage like with Ianto back then. So I figured we all could need a laugh!
