This week's Arrow episode "Eleven-Fifty-Nine" had a magic idol that can give a bad guy bad powers. And they kept it right where he would be able to find and steal it. Here is my idea how the whole thing could have gone differently!
Ah yes Daniel...he's my favourite on SG-1 as he's the 'intellectual' one and into all the things I am lol.
I don't know why countries bother anymore with dubbing. It's a waste of time & money. You'd think it would be cheaper to just put subtitles instead.
Oh don't get me started on Felicity but you're bang on! No one I know likes her now compared to when she originally started.
They are running White Collar here on the Italian channel at 11pm. Due to the late time I don't watch it very often and my Italian is atrocious (as my Dad says) so I miss a lot of things. Subtitles would be helpful in this case lol.
At a German convention, Michael Shanks once asked why we have started to watch Stargate. Was it because of an interest for Egyptian mythology? Two hands raised up. Was it because of interest in sci-fi shows in general? Another two hands raised up.
In comical despair he asked: "So why did you start to watch Stargate?" And the whole room of 500 people, I kid you not, shouted as one: "RICHARD DEAN ANDERSON!!!"
Poor Michael ;)
Dubbing has a long tradition in Germany and I guess it would be hard to just stop doing it. People may complain? In Sweden and other countries everyone speaks English as they have subtitles. Our dubbing is good though, not like in Poland where it is only one voice doing all characters. The actors really try to match the original. We also get more and more original language movies now. But you have to look for them.
Okay, that is probably not the best way to watch White Collar ;) I hope you'll get another chance one day. It's really worth it.
I guess I have to thank RDA as it was through him and Stargate that I became a sci-fi fan. I certainly wasn't one before. And I definitely know more Egyptian gods now than I did before, so never say TV isn't educating!
I have a friend who also studied Egyptian and was able to read hieroglyphs. We visited the British museum in London and my other friend and I already were three rooms further while she still was in the first, trying to read everything LOL But she really could translate us some stuff, which was pretty cool.
Do you know that in one of the Asterix movies in the hierogplyphs it says "If you can read that, you are an Egyptologist" LOL
