"Spock's Brain"
I couldn't resist buying this brain shaped eraser yesterday in a dollar shop.
Wonder if I should go on a quest trying to illustrate all Star Trek episode titles. They often had very poetic names, it may be fun to come up with a different interpretation!
For those not in the know, "Spock's Brain" is considered the worst or at least one of the worst Star Trek episodes ever. In it a woman steals Spock's brain without harming him in any other way, and they go into search for it. Spock tags along, being moved around with a remote control. All poor Leonard Nimoy had to do in this episode was walk or stand around with an empty stoned face. In the end they put the brain back in, and Spock is actually conscious and helping by telling McCoy which wires to connect. As I said, awful stuff.

Doesn't sound like the best episode ever, no... I can imagine someone being interested in Spock's brain, but try to make the "a person without the brain still lives" part seem probable, that's hard, if not impossible, even in sf.
But your brain (again, an eraser! Do they make them in any shape?) looks very nice in Spock's hands.

I'm definitely going to need an explanation each time, but it sounds like a great idea :)

Have a picture to illustrate the matter: http://www.herocomm.com/ImageDatabase/3rdSeason/Spocks%20Brain/61-44.jpg

Also how did she get it out without putting a hole into his head? This is never explained. They all suddenly fall into a coma and when they wake up, the brain is gone.

You have no idea! There are countless that I see but don't buy as they either don't fit the size, or I already have something similar but looking nicer. I did like the baby bottle and pacifier though, but don't really have a use for it sadly. There is also a small mirror and handbag. A make-up case. Coffee pot and coffee cup. Syringe and... what else was in the box with the syringe? I think a stetoscope. There are also animals, I have a cute sheep and I keep seeing equally cute round pigs. And so on and on. Also nice books which I haven't bought as they say Mathematics, Physics and German but in German words so again I can't use them for English or American figures. Also tools like a hammer and saw. Or little cars, which could be used for a kid as toyes - a lorry, a fire engine, a digger, a crane...

I'm really warming up to the idea! I shall think about it. Here are just a few:
"Is there in truth no beauty?"
"The conscience of the King"
"What are little girls made of?"
"Who mourns for Adonais?"
"A taste of Armageddon"
"Friday's child"
"The deadly years"
"By any other name"
"The savage curtain"
"That which survives"
"All our yesterdays"
"For the World Is Hollow, and I Have Touched the Sky"
"Where no man has gone before"

Date: 2016-10-08 10:12 pm (UTC)But with this recent idea, I actually did not mean just recreating scenes from the episode, but trying to come up with a fun twist / different interpretation of the episode title. We'll see how far that carries.
But here is a Tribble story for you which I did at a friend's home last year: http://dieastra.livejournal.com/150500.html

Date: 2016-10-09 01:23 pm (UTC)He's sort of hallucinating at the moment. He's locked in a cell, alone, and needs to make a difficult decision. Basically, he'll be imprisoned forever on a haunted ship unless he becomes immortal, but it comes with a price of losing his freedom (which is the thing he values most in his life) and having to do a particular job. Is he ready to pay the price? Or maybe there's another way? He hallucinates a few Jacks and each represents a different opinion. If he doesn't take the immortality and fails to find another way, he'll become the one in the back who dropped his brain, who is also Jack. Despite the joke, the situation is quite serious :)
It's from the third movie. There were four (and they're making the fifth one) but in my opinion, only the first three are good enough to recommend, the first one in particular. I was 15 when I saw it for the first time, and absolutely adored it.
<i>QMX, the maker of these figures, keeps retweeting my pictures. They must really like them!</i>
I'm not surprised, they could pay you for making up the stories and photographing the figures. ;)
<i>Also how did she get it out without putting a hole into his head? This is never explained. They all suddenly fall into a coma and when they wake up, the brain is gone.</i>
Right... Maybe it happened to the writer when he was writing the episode?
Very poetic titles. Have fun with them!

Date: 2016-10-09 07:54 am (UTC)I can only do it on Saturday afternoons though. In Summer I tried in the evening after work but then the sun was coming around and it was too bright again, even with curtains closed. And if I wait until it's dark and then use the ceiling lamps it is not good either.

Date: 2016-10-08 11:14 pm (UTC)That would be cool actually!
I vaguely remember this episode having only seen it once and I don't feel as if I missed much not remembering it lol.

Date: 2016-10-09 07:32 am (UTC)No, it's probably better if you don't remember anything although I would not call it the worst episode. There are worse offenders. At least this one is entertaining in a crazy way if you don't take it too serious. There are others that don't make any sense whatsoever and are just boring.

Date: 2016-10-09 07:28 am (UTC)I shall have fun with this for Halloween! I think Sherlock would also be fond of his brain, no? ;)
I saw they are also available in other colors. I could do this scene then:

Date: 2016-10-16 07:49 am (UTC)I can count off a few more which I like even less. At least this one is entertaining if you don't take it seriously. Some people say it was meant as a comedy all along but I am not sure!
