That was a long wait, he was supposed to arrive in Summer already but they pushed him back for a better paint job and it was totally worth the wait. He's awesome! I can't wait to start playing properly, with better lighting.

See many detailed pictures under the cut!

The box:

 photo DSC03971.jpg

A new background! So far we had the TARDIS console, and now the door from the inside. I love it!

 photo DSC03972.jpg

 photo DSC03976.jpg

Some complain he does not look like Christopher Eccleston at all, but I think when you find the right angle he looks spot on!

 photo DSC03980.jpg

The jacket is a bit too large. I'll have to see if I can do something about that. Some use a paperclip to tighten it at the back. Like the Tenth Doctor's coat it has a wire at the seam so you can pose it:

 photo DSC03982.jpg

Some accessories - I need to do a rewatch of the first season to recognize them all:

 photo DSC03992.jpg

I also got a Tenth Doctor's smiling head, to be used together with the pyjamas that came with the TARDIS. Again some say it looks creepy but I think they managed to do the typical David Tennant grin very well! He really often looks weird / dorky when smiling but this is why we love him, right?

 photo DSC03998.jpg

Disembodied hands again ;) I hear it is a bit more difficult to change them than before, I haven't tried yet. The rubber feels harder, more stiff.

 photo DSC04004.jpg

More accessories - sadly one of the tentacles of the Slitheen egg is broken. Not sure if it can be glued or if I should ask for a new one.

 photo DSC04006.jpg

I also get the black and green sweater if I want to change him:

 photo DSC04012.jpg

And now some pictures! The guy on the left was a walkie-talkie that I used as a stand in. He didn't move much.

 photo DSC04033.jpg

Getting kinda crowded in my shelf!

 photo DSC04039.jpg

Did I mention I love the backdrop? I think I did. Just checking.

Fantastic!

When I heard they were bringing Dr. Who back, I worried that it was going to be ruined. Instead, they had me glued to the screen. The ninth doctor was edgy and hot. :D

Hm, I don't know if I'd recognize that figure's face as Nine's.

You can change his jumper! XD

Not? I really don't see the problem but I don't have an eye for details like others. Or maybe I am just used to the much more awful faces of the small figures LOL

Yes, and I may even try it! With the Tenth Doctor I never dared as I cannot tie that little tie.

I also got Moriarty now - won't post pictures till after Christmas. He also comes with a different shirt and tie.

Gorgeous!! I can't wait for mine to get here! Well, to be totally honest, it's for my husband, as he's the Ninth Doctor fan in this house. Slightly late birthday present for him. :)

Oh you got one too! You will love him, he's awesome.
I hope your husband will let you play with him once in a while ;)
Is your husband's birthday in Summer? Then that was a long wait!

Yay! Nine is the Doctor that hooked me on the show. He's "fantastic"! :)

Me too, he was my first Doctor! I loved that he was not the usual good looking guy. In general in UK TV you find more normal looking people.

I took a long time to warm up to Ten ;) It would have been really nice if Chris had come back for the anniversary movie at least. I read an interview recently where he regretted not having done more seasons.

I now got the Baker Street Door, Nine and also Moriarty all at once - I don't know where to start with photographing! Do I really need to visit the parents for Christmas? LOL

Your Doctor collection is almost complete....you just need Capaldi's 13th (assuming they'll be making him int he not too distant future)!

Date: 2016-12-21 11:58 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] dieastra.livejournal.com
There is a Capaldi. He's only 12 though ;)

http://www.bigchiefstudios.co.uk/collectables/doctor-who/sixth-scale-figures/12th-doctor-series-8

I didn't get him and don't plan to. I didn't much like the last two seasons and never really warmed to this Doctor either. Not Capaldi's fault, I loved him in CoE. But his doctor always was so mean and angry.

From Big Chief also available are number 1 and 4 which I skipped as I never really watchd the classics. Originally they planned to do all Doctors but I think the New Who stuff sells better. I hope we'll get Jack soon!

I know what you mean...I think they just don't write good episodes for Capaldi imo.

Not much of a fan of the 'classic' doctors either.

Jack would be nice!

We have seen pictures of Jack already from a convention, but he is not available for pre-order yet. Soon I hope. Here is a picture if you like: https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5668/22691232469_dc4834e38b_b.jpg

What strikes me is how young he looks! I have been following John Barrowman for many years now, and so you don't notice that even he is aging, albeit slowly. But looking at this figure you realize that it has been ten years since Jack arrived on our screens, and it is this young version.

From: [identity profile] niviene.livejournal.com
Wow yeah 10 years...I never realize how much time has gone by but now that you said it, although it does seem yesterday and ages ago at the same time if that makes any sense!

Jack ages well...he must spa a lot lol :)

Hello, Nine!
It might not be the best figure but I don't think it's bad.

A new background! It took me some episodes to notice there's a coat hanger next to the door. No one ever used it in the series :)

Date: 2016-12-28 04:04 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] alumfelga.livejournal.com
You asked about Nine's accessories. I think they are, from the left: his watch (not sure though); the thing he uses in "Rose" when she meets him for the first time - is it used to blow up the shop or to detect the Autons, I don't know; banana is from one of the episodes with captain Jack, he steals his gun and gives him a banana instead; the antiplastic from "Rose". I hope it helps.

Date: 2016-12-29 05:10 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] dieastra.livejournal.com
Yes, thank you! Yes, that is a wrist watch. I did not find a better way to photograph it. I remember the scene of him looking at it as I have it in my music video. And of course I know the banana, I may have watched the episodes with Jack a few more times than the others ;) But I did not remember the bomb or whatever it is and the antiplastic.

And ooops! I wrote "More accessories" and then forgot to put the picture! Here is the Slitheen egg and the spider from "The end of the world" and the TARDIS key! I love that one. And that is now the fourth psychic paper I have LOL

I can't wait to do proper pictures of him holding all these accessories and looking awesome, but the light at the moment is really not good for photos and I struggle to get good ones. It's too grey and dark. I may have to wait a bit.

That's a lot of accessories, I wouldn't expect the egg :) Did you have a TARDIS key already?
You can take a photo of the Doctors holding psychic papers since you have so many :) There's a lot of fanarts and photo manips of the Doctors carrying screwdrivers or with their TARDISes, but I can't remember a single one of them carrying their psychic papers.

The egg is really cool. Makes me regret now only buying the Ninth Doctor walkie talkie. It actually came in a pair and the other one was a Slitheen.

Heh, nice idea with the psychic papers! I have three empty ones and one has River's writing with "Come into the library" on it.

No, I did not have a TARDIS key before, that is my first one. I feel honored he trusts me with this ;)

You don't know the TARDIS on Earl's Court? Every Doctor Who fan has to go there! It's right in front of the tube station. When we were there, other fans already were taking pictures, and we had a great chat. You can always find fans there, just like Sherlock fans at the hospital.

Look for it on google maps, then you can also see the inside (Eleventh Doctor's one).

You're lucky to catch me, on Tuesday I am off to pantoland ;)

The key worked, by the way.

Image (http://s137.photobucket.com/user/DieAstra/media/London%202011/Experience.jpg.html)

Edit: The Earl's Court TARDIS was also mentioned in Doctor Who once, when bad guys were looking for the Doctor and said hope we have the right one this time, not like when we fell for the fake one on Earl's Court. I don't remember the episode, it was one with Matt Smith.

Oh, yes, I heard of it. It wasn't far from our hotel when I was in London, but I didn't have time to go there. Next time, hopefully.

I found the scene when Earl's Court is mentioned, lol! Nice inside joke.

Nine's and Ten's console! Now, if you only could start the engine...

Were there any other fans there when you visited the TARDIS? We did not make it there this time, even though being in the area. Came out the other door and had other things in mind at the time.

Sadly the Doctor Who experience in Cardiff is supposed to close this Summer. No ider if you ever get another chance to visit the console after that :(

Date: 2017-06-10 05:21 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] alumfelga.livejournal.com
No, we didn't see any fans there. But we were there only for few minutes. The TARDIS a lovely couple brings to Doctor Who conventions in Poland is actually more accurate and better looking than this one, so I wasn't that impressed :D

I watched "The Bells of St John" today - because I remembered they drove on a motorcycle through London and wanted to shout "I was there!" - and again, I completely forgot about the line about the TARDIS on Earl's Court. It's even funnier if you've actualy been there :)

I'm also sad to hear about Doctor Who experience. I'm sure they'll think of something, there's still so many people who want to see all those things and are ready to pay for it.

Date: 2017-06-14 08:08 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] dieastra.livejournal.com
Yes, I almost fell over when I heard that line!
Is that when he also drove up the Shard with the bike? I thought that was epic!

I think it was a huge mistake to do the experience only for 5 years. They have no idea how many fans are coming to Cardiff because of that.

I just looked up the location of the Grenfell Tower. That is near to the area where we were :(

Date: 2017-06-15 06:44 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] alumfelga.livejournal.com
Yes, it's the same episode. So much travelling through London! The place where he lands and drives on the motorbike out of the TARDIS, with a fez, I was there. Or couple of meters away.

I think they didn't think that far in advance, or it wasn't possible to make a deal for more than 5 years. The money it made probably speaks for itself. They must be thinking of doing the exhibition in other place, there's no way they would give the money up.

Grenfell Tower is such sad news :(
