I love the family feeling of the Star Trek Voyager crew. I'm sure they would have celebrated the 1st of advent together as well. Even if there is no religion anymore in the Star Trek future, I hope we hold up some traditions. And with such a diverse crew, they would have a lot of different holidays to celebrate!

Wherever you are in the world my friends, please light a candle and make today into a special day. For yourself.

thanksgiving star trek!
an advent of celebrations
the candy stripe candles seem suspect, as if they are heralding in christmas, nonetheless, a cultural fusion, of thanks, worship and party time!
need some bottles of wine!

A belated thank you!

Sorry, I really meant to comment sooner...
You don't celebrate the advents in Australia? That's interesting! I never realized it might be different in other countries.

It's the four Sundays before Christmas. Each Sunday another candle gets lit. First one, then two, then three, then all four. Sometimes Fourth advent and Holy Eve are on the same Sunday.

There is also a German children poem about Santa Claus and the four advents. Like when the fourth candle is burning, he has to hurry.

Here is a selection of advent wreaths. The wreath is the most classic design, but our family always had a wooden one, similar to the one in my picture. Other more modern ones have all four candles in a row. I even have seen some where the candles are different sizes, which makes sense as the first one has to burn the longest.

I'm sure some people do, but my family never did and none of my relatives or friends families do either.

Thanks for the info!
